I wish they'd just legalize it, regulate it, and tax it. It would instantly become Oregon's largest cash crop upon legalization, and could generate enough tax to eliminate the Oregon income tax.

Agreed: legalize, tax, regulate, blow out the underground distribution network...by offering a better product in easily controlled dosages.

Pharma companies dole out the opiates and rake in the bucks, while really doing damage to humans and society, for the many of the same reasons people use marijuana responsibly. Those people choose to avoid that harm. Nothing wrong with that, IMHO.

But that missing revenue stream to Big Pharma sure seems to be the problem..."Why can't you potheads just use codeine and morphine like everyone else?" :-)

Because I think that I saw or read last week that Oxycontin pills run about $20 EACH on the street...is that right?

I'm with Vitalogy and EntreNous, so are my very square parents. What a waste of my tax money (weed enforcement).

Yep.

Biggest market is High School kids. At any time, a Vicoden will fetch $5, Oxy of any kind, up to $20, and Perocet is top freaking dollar.

chickenJuggler hit the nail on the head! Is it not true that the most widely abused drug in America is not infact a street drug? But instead prescription drugs such as those with opiates in them?

I feel strongly that we are eventually headed towards a decrim of marajuana in my life but probally not for another decade or two. When that happens I think that when you take the balck market out and replace the black market with taxes that pretty much the current price points will stand. the legal marajuana consumer will have many more choices in terms of strains, methods of consumption (baked goods anyone?), and methods.

Here's another one to look for: morphine lollipops presribed to cancer and hospice patients. They're hard to get, but easy to use, and selling for big bucks, like a novelty item.

I know a homeless guy who has them because his MD thinks it's better to give him something that won't make him nod out on the street. Pain relieved? Put it away, use the rest later.

Pot in vending machines:

This is a good idea. Tax it, regulate it. Get it out there.

Revenue!

From what I hear (don't really know about it myself of course ;o) a little "Berkely Boo" really enhances the experience of listening to 90.7, if ya get my drift........
