Here's another peaceful, frosty Oregon scene:

True story . . .

Saturday morning I was in Minneapolis. It was minus 11. From there I drove to Bismarck ND and the temp there was minus 22. At the airport when I left it was 18 below.

What was it like? Rent the movie Fargo. It was EXACTLY like that.

Bismarck? I'm SOOO sorry! hah

Yeah, it gets bloody cold back there. I remember a whole month of the temperature not hitting zero in South Dakota, it was so cold, when you spit it froze before hit the ground.

People don't realize how lucky they have it here.

I actually like a little bit of crisp, cold, clear weather. It gives us a break from the depressing grey skies and rain.

"Bismarck? I'm SOOO sorry! hah"

It was a good reality check. Makes one really appreciate this part of the country.

Skep, I know what you mean about Bismarck!

I almost spent Thanksgiving there a few years back!

Flew in on Monday morning of Thanksgiving week with a few flurries in the air. By Tuesday night when I was supposed to fly out there was 12"+ and still snowing!

When I got to the airport, the agent said the flight was going to be 3 hrs late. Late is OK. Cancelled is not!

It was a United Express Beech 1900 (19 seats, twin engine turbo prop) http://www.airliners.net/photo/Untitled_(Air_Georgian)/Beech_1900C-1/0816325&sok=JURER%20%20%28nvepensg_trarevp%20%3D%20 %27Orrpu%201900%20%28P-12%29%27%29%20%20beqre%20ol%20cubgb_vq%20QRFP&photo_nr=96 0&prev_id=0816339&next_id=NEXTID

The agent told me I was going to miss my connection in Minneapolis and asked if I wanted to stay in Bismarck and go out the next morning.

No way! There is a flight from Minneapolis to O'Hare every 30 min. Much better to be in Minneapolis than Bismarck! (I was living in Chicago at the time)

The storm ended up dumping 27" of snow on Bismarck!

I was at Multnomah Falls two weeks ago, taking pictures for my 11 year old Grandson's school project, he's now in Germany with his mom and dad, and Army Sgt.

Skybill, Oh yeah, the Beech and bad weather -- a nice combination. You gotta make sure they remember to spray deicer on those things because sometimes the pilots don't look a day over 15 (Horizon Airlines!).

Skep, we had to stop in Minot on the way to Minneapolis and the brakes froze.

Took them about an hour to get them thawed out enough to take back off!!

Friday I shot photos at Latourell Falls and Multnomah Falls. It's like a winter wonderland out there:
