Here's what R&R has to say about this:

By Mike Stern

Citadel talk KGO/San Francisco terminated host Bernie Ward as of the end of 2007. Ward, host of 10 p.m. - 1 a.m. and the Sunday-morning show "Godtalk,” has been off the air since he was indicted on two federal counts of child pornography using the Internet Dec. 6. General manager Mickey Luckoff told a reporter/blogger for the local ABC television affiliate about the termination.

Luckoff says the station took action against Ward before knowing the full details of the case and that he wants Ward back on the air soon. KGO operations director Jack Swanson says the station is still using fill-in hosts which could indicate that Ward's slot will be available to him in the future. Ward has a court appearance on Thursday (Jan. 24) to set a trial date. Soon after, he is supposed to meet with Luckoff, who indicated that Ward may be able to return to the air before a trial is completed.

Ward maintains that the charges stem from research he was doing in 2004 for a book about American hypocrisy. He has pleaded not guilty. In December, in Ward's lawyer, Doron Weinberg, said, "The government knows that Bernie was doing this for an investigation he was doing for a book. But the government believes he violated the letter of the law, and they have gone ahead and prosecuted him. The fact that these events happened three years ago and they are just being prosecuted shows the fact that nobody believes that he is a child predator."

Luckoff says that he believes Ward's explanation of the charges.

Anyone in need of a Bernie Ward fix can check out his rants on the "Support Bernie Ward" Website:

I've heard Al "Jazzbo" Collins haunts this board from time to time, deep within The Purple Grotto of time.

He don't need to show you no stinking posts!

My dear friend and former host Pat Thurston fills in at KGO once in awhile since Bernie's departure. For anyone who appreciates the original Air America spirit, you should definitely give her a listen. She does her homework and has astonishing guests. Never enough lefties on the dial if you ask me!

You may not know this, but Victor Boc actually worked at KGO in the past. He was on weekends in the 1980s.

This from All Access:

------------------------------KGO Going Solar------------------------------

CITADEL Talk KGO-A/SAN FRANCISCO has announced a partnership with PACIGIC GAS AND ELECTRIC and SOLFOCUS to install solar panels on its tower to help power its transmitter.

President/GM MICKEY LUCKOFF said, "As a trusted BAY AREA news source, we have the opportunity and the responsibility to be a voice for important ecological issues. Solar power is one of many eco-friendly (environmentally sound) initiatives that deserve increased public awareness."

I'm not exactly sure but i think it costs at least $3k per month to run a 50kw AM transmitter plant even with a solid state transmitter.

That would be a whole lot of solar panels. Not to mention the cost of an isocoupler for each solar panel if they actually put them on towers.

This sounds like enviro-friendly PR at best.
