Im really sadend by the fact that that he is gone. The guy was on top of his career, its so sad that it ended so quickly. Why does this always happen to such great actors?

I don't think I've seen any of his movies...I have wanted to see "Brokeback Mountain", now I need to go check it out. Sounds like he had a great future ahead of him.

3 other recommendation's:

The Brothers Grimm

A Knights Tale

and

The Patriot

Edit Add:
His last film "The Dark Knight" in which he plays a really twisted Joker. Filming was completed and it is in post production right now. It's due out in theatres July 18th.

I liked "10 Things I Hate About You", a high school version of "The Taming of The Shrew", filmed in Tacoma.

This is sad news. Why can't it be Britney instead.

Why should I care? A homeless man was found dead, frozen solid in this city but some actor dies and we all should care?

Go to Gresham and you will find dozens of pregnant 16 year olds that nobody cares about but Britneys sister gets knocked up and its all over the news.

see any problems here?

Very sad he died but lots of people die. Lets not make his death any more then it needs to be.

Once a year, I agree with Mc74. Today seems to be that day.

Heath Ledger Rocks, and it is a BIG loss for the film industry.
I liked the movie "Monsters Ball"- The movie about a racist (Billy Bob thorton) falling in love with a black woman. Heath Ledger has an awesome roll in this film.
Before I forget, for those who haven't seen the movie, WARNING- There is a GRAPHIC Sex scene at the beginning of the movie. I made the mistake of watching the movie with my parents, and lets just say, it was a little uncomfortable!

I too agree with Mc74!

The initial reports were he OD'd. Now the COD is undetermined.

If indeed he was doing drugs and OD'd I have no sympathy for him. (Or anybody else that does drugs)

He was taking Sleeping pills (Ambien) along with some anti-anxiety pills. I think it was an accidental overdose.

I guess I should have clarified it by saying "illegal" drugs.

Accidental OD is bad.

NEW YORK — Six different types of prescription drugs were found in Heath Ledger's apartment -- including anti-anxiety medications and sleeping pills -- though the cause of his death won't be known for several days after a preliminary autopsy Wednesday came back inconclusive, authorities said.

A rolled-up $20 bill was also found on the floor near the Australian actor's bed, but lab tests detected no traces of drug residue. Police also said no illegal drugs were found in the apartment.

Among the prescription medications found were pills to treat insomnia and anxiety, and an antihistamine, according to two law enforcement officials who spoke on condition of anonymity because the investigation is ongoing. Three of the drugs were prescribed in Europe, the sources said. Ledger had recently been filming in London.

The $20 bill was found on the floor near Ledger's bed, and New York Police Department spokesman Paul Browne said lab tests found nothing to indicate it had been used to snort drugs.

The Australian-born actor was found dead Tuesday by his housekeeper and a massage therapist -- lying naked and face-down on his bed, police said. The pills were found in bottles in Ledger's bedroom and bathroom, and police said the death was caused by a possible drug overdose and appeared to be accidental.

Actor Heath Ledger Dead at 28 Ellen Borakove, a spokeswoman for the medical examiner's office, said that the autopsy on the 28-year-old actor was inconclusive and that more would be known in about 10 days, when more tests were completed.

Police said Ledger probably died Tuesday between 1 p.m. and 2:45 p.m. At 1 p.m., the housekeeper went into his bedroom to change a light bulb, saw him sleeping and heard him snoring.

At 2:45 p.m., the massage therapist showed up for Ledger's appointment, knocked on his door and got no answer. She later noticed Ledger was unconscious and called actress Mary-Kate Olsen, whose number was programmed into Ledger's cell phone, to seek advice.

I wonder if Mary-Kate had brains enough to tell the idiot therapist to call 911 instead. Probably not.

Wow! Six prescription drugs in his bedroom and bathroom! And one was an antihistimine? Who in the world doesn't have 6 prescription medications in their bathroom? (OK, maybe Chris.)

And I assume that the 3 that were prescribed in Europe were not refillable here...

Duh.

I never heard of this guy, condolences to his family and friends, but if a guy can't handle fame and what goes with it, he should have stayed out of the business.

Going for the "Empathy of the year" award are we, Nwokie?

It's tragic whenever someone dies young whether the person was a famous actor or an ordinary joe you've never heard of.

MC74--I agree fully.

When I first heard about it earlier this week I couldn't help but ask "Who the hell is Heath Ledger"?

Then I found out he was one of the actors in that lame-ass film a couple years back about a bunch of gay cowboys eating pudding..........uhh, "Lumbago Hill" I think it was......................

According to Dr Drew Pinsky of Loveline and Celebrity rehab who by the way is a board ceritified addiction medicine specialist he stated the following the night of the death.

Its nearly impossible for an adult male to overdose on Ambien or any OTC sleeping aide. He stated that it would take in the neighborhood of around 100 Ambien pills to cause an overdose death. When it comes to OTC sleeping aides he said that the biggest concern is whether the OTC has Tylenol or not and if it did contain it the overdose would manifest itself in wired maniac pyscotic symptoms and not knock someone out cold.

I feel as though this is a sad story because of the fact that Ledger did not seek out fame or the paparazzi. He laid low and was a very normal celebrity. He wasn't a party person nor a magnet for that type of hangers on.

Furthermore we are all expecting bad things to happen and in many ways would get great satisfaction in general if it were a Britney, Lohan, and or a Winehouse we wouldn't be at all shocked or surprised as we are with Heath.

BTW can't wait to see his performance this summer as the Joker in the new Batman movie.

On VH-1 tonight is episode three of Dr Drew's Celebrity rehab which so far has been a great show and is a good show for anyone to watch if you are curious on the issues of how addicts are treated in an inhouse setting, and what the different drugs do to destroy peoples lives. Its an eye opener and not as much of a voyeristiv show as you would expect. It features: Brigett Neilson, Joanie "Chyna" Lauer, Mary Carey, Jeff Conway, Jessica Seirra, the lead singer of CrazyTown, a Baldwin brother, the Daughter from Family Matters, and Ricco Rodriguez.

I think it's silly and morbid to speculate so actively as to why he died. Give it a rest, the coroner will announce final findings soon enough for everyone who is so anxious to know.
