Try the "Chef Pierre" pies from Cash and Carry.

Cherry is my favorite. Not real sweet, kind of tart.

Mmm Mmm good!

Chris--

Nah, Rose's is a bit too expensive for me, that, and I found out they use Comcrap's "Music Choice" simulcast instead of Muzak or DMX.......

(Good sandwiches & cakes tho!)

I am the farthest thing from a southerner but my fav's are Pecan Pie, Sweet Potato Pie, and Key Lime Pie.

Of places around here where I have had good pies I think that Marie Calanders restaurant excells at there Cream Cheese pies which are similar to a cheesecake but not as rich. And Gustav's Brambleberry pie which had all kinds of berries along with rhubarb.

mmmm Pecan Pie ... NOW yer talking!

Being a Spokane native, a staple of ours is Cyrus O'Leary's pies. (and if you're up there, the restaurant itself downtown is KILLER!)

You can find the pies at some upper end grocers down here, if you see one GET IT. You will thank me later.

"Papa Petes" is my Pizza of choice. Inconvieniently located North of PDX, Exit 14 at the Ridgfield Junction. Would be a great place to meet prior to the Rush concert!

DT, I've driven by Papa Pete’s but never eaten there.

Good pizza, huh? May have to try it.

I've lived out here 12+ years and still have not found a pizza that make me want to stand up and shout!

Some are OK, but nothing fantastic.

Hey, Do you remember Engine House Pizza that used to be at Jantzen Beach? It was in the building that is now BJ's. Wait NM. It's been gone long time. Anyway, it's a thin crust pizza with the cornmeal sprinkled underneath. They use tons of those little round pepperoni's that get nice and crispy in the oven....mmmm mmmm goodalicious! One at Ridgefield junction, one in Longview, and the other at the Castle Rock exit, the one to get to St Helens. Try it Mikey, You'll like it!

Back around 1999, I heard, on the Dr. Dean Edell radio show, that there is such a thing as a pie-in-the-face fetish! The people who have this become sexually aroused at the sight of somebody getting hit in the face with a pie or at the sight of a face that is covered with pie matter.

Yup, used to eat there very often when I was a little kid (mid 80s-early 90's.) By that time, however, it was Pietro's Engine House Pizza. My Mum worked her first job there as a cook after she graduated from EHS in '77! ;o)

I think Engine House has been gone at least a good 10 years now......

Before Engine House, it was a, well, swimming pool I used to swim in. Guess that makes me a non-youngster.

Ah the memory, it does fade with age. The park closed in 1970 but didn't the I-5 expansion in 1958 put the freeway right through the pool? Bang you cane once for yes and twice for no!

Bang Bang!

While I was barely alive when the freeway was expanded, the pool was right next to the freeway after 1958. Toss a can of Olympia out the passenger window coming down from Washington and you'll hit the pool, no problem.

If I remember, the retaining wall that kept the freeway from falling into the pool lasted long after the pool was closed and torn down. It was the only original "relic" of the entire park that still existed for a while there. Its gone now.
