The huckster is looking good isn't he! Maddow called that one way early. (hate it when she is right)

I want Edwards dammit! Obama is my second choice, and I'll take most of the rest as some change is possible with any of them.

You think Hilary is gonna come in third? I'm thinking top two --assuming they don't dick with the votes. If she is number one, I will suspect that --really.

You know I used to bitch about Oregon not having any influence until it's a bit late. But after reading a bit more about what Iowa does, uh, I'm fine with Oregon being normal for once.

From CBS News: (about 6:45 PM)

Huckabee wins. Didn't say 2nd and 3rd.

Obama wins. 2nd and 3rd too close at this time.

I'm OK with the Republican however I don't know if he could win the presidency.

For the Democrats, I'm ABC (Anybody But Clinton)

I'd be satisfied if these Iowa results held up and Huckabee and Obama were the two eventual nominees. But I doubt it. While this should spell the end of a serious campaign for Romney, Huckabee really isn't electable nationwide. I'd love to see him tank against any Democrat.

Romney should drop out now. This is a huge loss for him. He spent like crazy in Iowa and campaigned longer than Huckabee did. He should drop out now and use the millions saved to build a school or something.

I wouldn't be unhappy with Obama as the eventual nominee, either. I think he would signal a new voice and direction for the country, a new era. But, Hillary has a strong campaign and is a strong candidate. She WILL win New Hampshire (barely). It will be seen as a big "comeback" for her after Iowa. But winning Iowa hasn't historically led to the presidency very often.

Edwards should seriously think about quitting now, too. He has very little money and he had his best shot at earning some credibility with a big showing in Iowa. It seems not to have happened. He doesn't have the money to compete in a serious way with Obama and Clinton in the upcoming primaries.

I am very excited about the results in Iowa. I know it's a long road, but the trends look great. 70% didn't vote for Clinton and the Democrats had a huge showing. For a state that carried Bush, Iowa may now be in play for the Democrats. Certainly not good news for the GOP.

PS. Obama will win NH as well.

Andrew- Do you think Edwards would accept a VP nomination from either Clinton or Obama if he was asked? Not that he will be asked after his time with Kerry.

Also if Obama or Clinton do end up in the Whitehouse do you think Edwards would accept a cabinet position? Do you think he would be helpful in a cabinet position?

Just picking your brain bro.

I don't see Edwards having any shot at anything with other administrations. As far as I'm concerned, he's a 04 retread and a reminder of a painful loss.

From KGW's 11:00 News:

Republicans:
Huckabee - 34%
Romney - 25%
Thompson - 13%
McCain - 13%
Paul - 10%
Giuliani - 4%
Hunter - 0%

Democrats:
Obama - 38%
Edwards - 30%
Clinton - 29%
Richardson - 2%
Biden - 1%
Dodd, Gravel and Kucinich all 0%

Interesting. With all the talk about Rudy Giuliani, I would have expected a better showing.

Well, Rudy didn't really campaign in Iowa - that's his excuse. Unfortunately for him, neither did John McCain and he scored 10 points higher. Oops. I think Rudy's pro-gay pro-abortion 3 wives morality didn't go over so well with Iowa's evangelicals.

Yeah, Chris, I too don't see Edwards fitting in with either Obama or Clinton. And he certainly wouldn't accept the VP nomination again. It obviously didn't help him last time.

Which brings us to the question of who gains the most if Edwards drops out down the road? Clinton or Obama?

I have been given some hope.

Thank you Santa Claus.

Folks, with almost any of those candidates ( I have to take Romney out though ) I really believe that things would not only feel better than what we are going through now, but they would actually BE better with just about any of them in office. It feels great to actually, finally, be on the road again. I don't even need to hear campagin promises of " a new beginning " from either side. I'm just so glad that there will be someone new in office in a year or so. I'd take Huckabee in a heartbeat over what I am currently struggling with.

Obama? Great. Fine with me. Can't get here soon enough.

Naw. I just really like Mr. Huckabee and believe he gives us the best of both parties. He does care about average working people, along with the poor and disenfranchised in my opinion. Being pro-life shows he cares about innocent life. And commuting sentences for convicted felons shows he cares about redemption and forgiveness. His record as governor appears to show all this.

There are two things from the Iowa caucus last night that ought to concern Republicans.

1. From what I've been able to gather, Democrats turned out over Republicans by a almost 2 to 1 margin.

2. The primary motivation for those who turned out was a desire for change.

I'm still pulling for Edwards, but I'd be fine with Obama.

Did you see his speech last night?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yqoFwZUp5vc

Compare that with anything that's come out of Bush's mouth EVER!

I may live to eat my words, Republicans have voted for worse candidates (WPE), but i don't see Huckabee advancing very far with things like this out there:

“A wife is to submit herself graciously to the servant leadership of her husband even as the church willingly submits to the headship of Christ.”

The scripture in Ephesians being referenced has been one of the most misinterpreted, misapplied and abused passages of the Bible.

It's been used to justify all sorts of physical, emotional and verbal abuses.... dominating behavior and neglect on others...

I has been misapplied to put into place a rigid hierarchicalism in marriages, families and the workplace.

It’s all about understanding the context of the passage. This is where Herb and I disagree the most when it comes to scripture. It would like a visitor from China woke up on a November morning to this headline: “Oregon Ducks Smell Roses.” We all know what it means, but the visitor from China would have a hard time and possibly be confused by the headline. Now try explaining this to the person from China. It would take some effort for them to truly grasp what the headline really means.

When you read a passage like the one in Ephesians and accept it as is with no understanding of who the writer is, in this case Paul and who the Ephesians were and why Paul is writing to them, you’re like the visitor from China.

Sadly, and once again, Herb has merely posted scripture thinking it will by itself make a difference on this board. Sorry to have to be the one who constantly reminds you Herb, you can do better

Sorry, but I like strong women! Come to think of it, maybe one is born that way, leaving the rest a matter of choice not unlike that one posed to gay people!

Ha!

Edit: If God created me, then God knows this! Maybe it's a gift, it being so lonely at the all powerful top!
