Kicking off the New Year, Ian Punnett hosted Coast to Coast AM's annual prediction show featuring psychics and prognosticators sharing what they see coming in the year 2008. In order of the guests' appearances, here are some of the highlights:

2008 will bring an "economic 9-11" in which big financial firms are going to collapse from the top down.

As greed and corruption are seeped out, there will be great opportunities for entrepreneurs to move into the failing system.

With the rise in food prices and property taxes, people can no longer afford things, and will revolt against the current tax system.

The catastrophic collapse of the dollar will ignite a global meltdown.

During the winter/spring look for a natural disaster, likely wind related, such as an out-of-season hurricane.

In late March, a female leader, possibly from Central or South America will begin to receive media coverage regarding financial rebellion.
In May/June veterans will take over a national monument.

On the Democratic side, John Edwards and Barack Obama are the two most likely candidates.
For the Republicans, Mitt Romney and Fred Thompson are the two strongest. Ron Paul could also get serious consideration and McCain may be a VP candidate.

Bloomberg could decide to run as an Independent if "the center is wide enough," and he'd have a real shot at winning.

Global terrorism is going to make a "major comeback."

How about a show this year with the guests from the 2007 show, where their predictions for 2007 are judged? Coast to Coast should do the same thing every year, and two guests who are completely dead wrong two years in a row should not be invited back next year.

People make wild predictions on radio shows all the time, and these predictions turn out almost all the time to be complete BS. How often do these guests get called on their failed predictions? Why should we continue to believe people who are consistently wrong?

The thing that struck me as odd last night was the consistent negative predictions. I've heard these January 1st shows before and usually it all over board. This year everyone was down on the economy, some WAY DOWN.

I remember hearing one predictor saying it's going to get so bad, American's will call for the election in 2008. It was said by one predictor, the nation will wake-up, when the layoffs begin in February by national companies.

One predictor said some American's will quit paying their monthly credit card debt to save money for food. Another said banks will close for a day and re-open with saving accounts paid out 10c on the dollar.

Of course everyone knows that Goofy and Mickey are far smarter than Pluto! I'd listen to what they say first!

Aren't Goofy & Mickey running the Country right now? I'd welcome ANY help from Pluto!
