So, what do you think? Any chance on this? Looks kind of interesting to say the least!

I already called him a dud months ago, and he's still a dud. I wouldn't be surprised to see him bow out within the next couple of weeks.

Thompson is finished as a candidate. His support has sunk more and more every month. I think McCain is the likely nominee. Andrew

I read recently that as an actor Thompson was lazy and sucked the life out of scene whenever he appeared in it. These are traits I'm sure even Republicans don't want for candidates.

Then what you read was called an opinion. Do you base all your facts on other peoples opinions?

It is my opinion that Fred Thompson will become a punchline soon. A poorly run campagin of legendary proportions. I've seen worse. But not this year.

There's no reason another actor can't become President, to answer the question posed as the title of this thread. I like the guy, but I agree that he's finished as a candidate. On the Tonight Show in early September, he suggested that "if you can't get your message out in a few months these days, you can't get it out at all" (I'm paraphrasing, but that's about what he said). Well, it's been a few months, and I still don't know why the man would make a good President. He's a good actor, and he knows how to vote "yes" as a Congressman on the issues with which he agrees. So, he can read the script, but he hasn't shown the public that he can write it.

Didn't Thompson say he needed to come in at least 4th in Iowa (or was that New Hampshire)? And if he didn't he would drop out? I think he will soon, too. I think at least one Democrat will drop out after Iowa, too. Andrew

"Do you base all your facts on other peoples opinions?" No, one has to be a Republican in order to do that.

Being an actor has nothing to do with it. However, most of the current candidates are actors. Hillary is sure putting on a good act. What you see isn't the real her. Her campaign even said they waited too long to do the good image building on her. The nicey image they have been portraying lately isn't the real her. The reason they need to do it is because she really isn't a nice person. If you have to tell someone that you are good, then you probably aren't. We have observed her for 15 years. Why would you need to start now to say she is nice. Obama seems to be natural. Edwards??? kinda phoney, also. And the Republicans???? They are putting on a fine act, also. To tell the truth, there isn't any candidate on either side that inspires me to want to vote for them. I know a few I definitely wouldn't vote for. Just waiting to see what the final choices are. One must ask the question, "Do we really want the control of this country to be in the hands of two families for 32-36 straight years? That is more like a dynasty. Yeah, I know Bush Sr. was VP for 8 of those years but he was still up there in the White House. I think it is time for change, as Mrs. Clinton says. It is time for some other person to be there besides Bush-Clinton. Surely, there must be someone in this country capable of doing the job correctly.

She worked her butt off as a carpetbagger Senator from New York to show she was worthy of the job and got re-elected as a reward. This is something of substance voters can point at. She has shown she will be smart, capable, and if necessary to the benefit of our country, ruthless, in her role as President if elected. I'm not sure we want a "nice" president. I'm thinking the Democrats are blessed with a wide variety of qualified candidates -- from Clinton, Obama, Edwards all the way down to Joe Biden -- any one of them are capable of doing an excellent job as president. The GOP has McCain and to a lessor extent, Guliani, two candidates very capable of handling the job without hosing up the country. One could argue we may not be so lucky in 2012 with the quality of our choices.
