On CBS tonite. Brian Wilson segment is last. Great voice, and still can make some great music. But a cardboard cutout would have been more animated than Brian. What a tortured soul he must be. Lyle Lovett butchers God Only Knows, Hootie and Blowfish do I Get Around and Califoria Girls........

Brian Wilson is in his late 60's, he is not a spring chicken anymore.
The guy may no longer be very animated on stage but he can still sing. It must have been extremely painful to watch Lyle Lovett destroy a classic like "god only knows." And Hootie and The Blowfish, WTF????? Didn't that god-awful band break up a long time ago..
And Yes Brian Wilson is a bitter old man, still very unhappy and extremely depressed. If you've seen any recent interviews with the guy, you can tell he is very unhappy.

Being the huge Beach Boys fan that I am, I'm still waiting for a beach boys Movie to come out in the theaters. Everyone thinks they were a bunch of clean cut guys that loved to sing about women and the beach, but they had a dark side to them. Drugs, alcohol, hanging out with Charles Manson( Dennis wilson was best friends with him) Even today Brian Wilson admits to being a HUGE coke addict and had to hire a body guard to get him to stop.
Beach Boys Rule, PERIOD!

The mental image of WPE rockin' out just made me throw up a little bit in my mouth. Glad I missed it! (Sorry, Roger)

That probably explains Brian Wilson's stage persona: Nobody told him.

That show was pretty great! The beach balls dropping into the crowd was a nice touch.

Lyle Lovett did indeed botch that wonderful song. Really, only Carl could do justice to that gem.

Hootie and the boys did a nice bar-band Beach Boys set. You could see the same thing at any local bar by any local Baby Boomer band.

Brian is an American icon in music. The crowd gave him the honor he deserves. It was fun to see how happy they looked.

George B looked like a dork.

Thus endeth my review.

The last time I heard Brian Wilson sing... maybe 10 or 12 years ago, he couldn't hit the high notes anymore, and he really no longer sounded like a Beach Boy. I don't know, maybe he had a sore throat or something. So everyone is saying he CAN still sing?
