Seasons Greetings:
I spent Christmas eve in Salem and enjoyed listening to some radio while I was there. A couple of things of interest:
I could listen to the National Weather Service (Salem) on 1650 kHz. On 1670 I kept hearing "This is ABC newstape number 67" (may have the number wrong), over and over.
On Christmas morning at 5 AM I could hear 910 KTRO just as strong as KCMD or 1080 "The Fan".

1650 KHz is the Salem area Oregon Department of Transportation Highway Advisory Radio Service. They repeat the 162.475 MHZ NWS Salem weather radio broadcast from Prospect Hill when there are no specific highway advisory messages.

The NWS Salem weather radio broadcast can also be heard on KPXG Ch. 22 audio SAP channel as well.

Sounds like Otto Mation was on an extended coffee break...

On several nights over the past few months I tuned into KUGN (I have my clock radio set to it to wake up in the morning) and I just hear "CBS Radio Networks Channel 42...BEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP...CBS Radio Networks Channel 42...BEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP..." over and over again.

That lazy bum Otto...

It's nothing new. Back in '76, I would regularly hear Mutual network actuality feeds on 107.9, the Christian station in Albany.
The worst was when they tried to automate the commercial breaks on a high school football game. The programming messed up, of course. And the announcer (also the GM, I think) started moaning about the mess-up -- forgetting (or not knowing) that we at KGAL were taking a direct feed from the press box. So his moaning was on the Big 92... until I started rolling a record. Those were the days of tiny press boxes, and every station in the valley taking feeds from the home team broadcasters.

Back in 1987 when I was at KAAR we carried occasional games but KAAR didn't want to pay for a direct line, so we would take the feed from the Centralia affiliate. Trouble was, whenever the broad-op screwed up by playing a local spot over a network spot, we would end up playing the Centralia spot. This happened more than a few times. Or they'd play extra spots and we'd come back to the game and they'd still be in spots. Then they'd break back into the game, in the middle of a play!

The poor man feed sometimes use to be the station that would need a feed would call the orginating station and they would put them on hold...and then a roving staffer would pick up the blinking line and hang it up!

I don't see why there wouldn't be. Try reading the manual.

Someone at OPB told me that SAP isn't part of the DTV system.
