Pure Country 103.7 KXPC has replaced it's jockless "local" programming with a "new" satellite-fed Country format.

I don't understand why they didn't radionut. That is THE one format that is missing in the Valley and it is a money maker. Take a look at the numbers in Central Oregon for classic country and that is on an AM station. Ya, I know it's Central Oregon, but Bend isn't much different from the Valley. If Classic Country is programmed right, tying into some of today's artist and their early stuff, mixed with the classics, it would be a great hit. I am suprised no one has gone to it yet.

KRCO always does very well. I used to work at HBG. Doesn't matter how many dj's they run through, people love classic country. Who can forget the "Trading Post"

LOL, ahh the tradin post! Ah got me a set of tahrs, ones missin and I want 50 bucks for them three or ahll trade ya for a pig. call...... Yep that was a lot of fun. They do go through jocks like water but having been there, it's not the company, its the gig. Hard to deal with that every day. Love HBG, Love Central Oregon, Love Prineville, and KRCO consistently beats some of the FM's over there, including AC, CHR, Classic Rock and modern country. I love it. When will someone do the same in the Valley?

Yes I agree, but I don't hold the cougar thing against him. Would work there again in a heartbeat, but the mrs loves the Valley. Why? I don't know.

I think he hired me because I was a Coug! Sad that Bruce Cannon and Larry Wilson were shown the door, but it's part of the biz. I may getting whacked soon because of budget cuts. I don't like it, but it's not like I am the first person to get axed for budget purposes.

I had so much fun doing the SWAP shows. I found it a great outlet to take a boring forum and really own it. Two ways to do it. Let them tell you what they have, then repeat it back, or interact with the callers, have some fun and make it interesting for EVERYONE!!!! I went the second route. Whacked for budget? If it happens, make sure you offer a sincere apology to management for the fact that the company is in the red and tell them that you know that it was a tough decision for them to make, but are glad that your termination allows them the opportunity to turn red ink to black. Shake hands, smile and leave.

I only listened for 1/2 hour yesterday afternoon, but it didn't sound like any satellite format I recognize. There was a mix of a couple of liner voices (poorly produced) and a lot of poorly-testing 90's country -- 2 Tracy Byrd songs in 20 minutes. They went right from spots to music with no ID, jingle or sweeper. I heard some pre-recorded weather, but no "jock", live or memorex. It might be new, but it ain't improved.

KXPC is running Young & Verna in mornings and Lia at night. Rich Cole is on from 5 to 7 PM with local programming. Has anyone else noticed the nasty digital artifacts in the satellite-fed audio?

Pure Country 103.7 KXPC is plugged into Dial Global's "Hot Country" until 5 PM. Rich Cole fills the two hours before JRN's Lia hits the air at 7 PM. I wonder if the fatiguing audio is the result of a low quality STL feed, which further degrades the compressed satellite audio.

Now that KXPC is on 107.1 in Portland, are they still using the Molalla site on 103.7? KXPC has such a great coverage area, clear from Newport up to Tillamook on the Coast, up and down the Valley from north of Longview and south of Eugene (of course, not so good in PDX), and I would imagine over to Bend as well. Since there are so many other Country stations in these places, it's really too bad they don't take the Classic Country approach and draw some listeners from all of these places. KXPC, Oregon's Classic Country.

I would expect the Mollala booster to stay since it primarily covers a different area than 107.1 The signal is poor in Eugene since the last transmitter move and they missed a window of opportunity for a Eugene translator due to the now-dead proposal to move the station to Paisley. Now that Paisley is not happening, they can get out of the holding pattern and either change format and/or sell.

With KLVU on 107.1, how far south can this translator be heard?
