Twas the month before Christmas
When all through our land,
Not a Christian was praying
Nor taking a stand.

Why the PC Police
had taken away,
The reason for Christmas -
no one could say.

The children were told
by their schools not to sing,
About Shepherds and Wise Men
and Angels and things.

It might hurt people's feelings,
the teachers would say
December 25th
is just a 'Holiday'.

Yet the shoppers were ready
with cash, checks and credit
Pushing folks down
to the floor just to get it!

CDs from Madonna,
an X BOX, an I-pod
Something was changing,
something quite odd!

Retailers promoted
Ramadan and Kwanzaa
In hopes to sell books by
Franken & Fonda.

As Target was hanging
their trees upside down
At Lowe's the word Christmas -
was nowhere to be found.

At K-Mart and Staples
and Pennys and Sears
You won't hear the word Christmas;
it won't touch your ears.

Inclusive, sensitive,
Di-ver-si-ty
Are words that were used
to intimidate me.

Now Daschle, Now Darden,
Now Sharpton, Wolf Blitzen
On Boxer, on Rather,
on Kerry, on Clinton!

At the top of the Senate,
there arose such a clatter
To eliminate Jesus,
in all public matter.

And we spoke not a word,
as they took away our faith
Forbidden to speak
of salvation and grace.

The true Gift of Christmas
was exchanged and discarded
The reason for the season,
stopped before it started.

So as you celebrate 'Winter Break' ;
under your 'Dream Tree'
Sipping your Starbucks,
listen to me.

Choose your words carefully,
choose what you say
Shout MERRY CHRISTMAS,
not Happy Holiday!

GOD BLESS and LOVE!

Cute poem. But if you really and truly find your Christmas is threatened by a diverse culture's attempt to accommodate beliefs other than yours, then your faith must be pretty damn weak.

These so-called "Warriors of Christmas" seem to not like the fact that not everyone celebrates THEIR holiday. Personally, I'm not offended if someone I don't know wishes me a "Merry Christmas", but how dumb would they feel if in reality I was a Jew? That's like me telling a stranger "Happy Hanukkah".

I think private business should have whatever kind of sale they want, I think a Christmas tree should be called a Christmas tree, and I believe that government and ANY religious display should be banned and this ban heavily enforced towards ALL religions. If you want to display the manger, do it on your own private property.

It's truly sad that people feel Christmas is threatning to begin with or that some feel that taking away the symbols or words of Christmas is somehow taking away a persons faith.

Eastwood nailed this one spot on.

You can take my bible and rip in shreads. You can take all the gifts, the tree and burn it up. You can tell me not to utter anything that even smells of Christmas. But I'll still have faith.

Chris, Eastwood, spot on man!

It's all about confusing conviction with truth. Nobody really knows if Jesus is the reason for the season. The beauty of it is simply that it does not matter, if one believes.

Why not just chuckle inside, knowing others are missing out, instead of trying to realize your own conviction in them?

Totally agreed on the private business bit too. I don't mind a merry christmas card, or a happy holidays card, whatever. If somebody sends me the card, or displays a sign in their business, they are expressing a happy time and why that time helps to make them happy.

Two ways to take that!

One is an attack where their happy time somehow threatens your own. That's the weak faith bit Eastwood nailed.

The other is just a sharing. It's holiday time, and we hope yours is as good as ours is looking to be. Relax, it's Christmas, no worries, let's all get along.

The latter is SO much easier and more interesting.

Well that's fine Skybill. Merry Christmas to you as well. I want to ask you a question. Do you consider Kwanzaa, hanukkah, thanksgiving and New Years Day all just parts of Christmas? My point is this, people say happy holidays because the holiday season consists of so many other holidays some of which reflect the religion of others. Don't you think you are being disrespectful of other people's religions when you want to lump all these holidays in with Christmas? You and Herb would scream like hell if we called this the Kwanzaa season because we would be disrespectful of you religion's holiday of Christmas. Christmas is one day December 25th, not the month of December. Happy Holidays.

Thanksgiving is not a relegious holiday, it represents the beginning ofout country.

Christmas is a specific relegious holiday. As are the others mentioned.

Kwanzaa is not religious is it? It's made up.

And Okie, Thanksgiving is NOT "the beginning ofout country", you doofus. My family (Native American) was already here and doing just fine!

We don't really celebrate it for that reason, and we certainly don't observe Columbus Day.
Now feel free to go to Spirit Mountain Casino and make a monetary apology/donation to us.

Hey M, I think Okie needs a little "Peyote" and to chill out. Always loved that scene in "Young Guns" were they all get ripped on it! Maybe we can get some for the "Rush Road Trip"!

A few minutes ago, I heard a Christmas song playing on KGayBC, of all places. I think that Christmas is safe, at least for now.

Thanksgiving, as celebrated by the original colonial settlers, was a religious holiday in the sense that they were expressing thanks to God. The group that settled at Berkley Hundred, VA, had it specifically written into their charter that "Wee ordaine that the day of our ships arrival at the place assigned for plantacon in the land of Virginia shall be yearly and perpetually keept holy as a day of thanksgiving to Almighty God." The first anniversary of this landing took place in 1620. The Plymouth settlers began their Thanksgiving celebration a year later, with the harvest of 1621.
