Egor,
Is "Irreplaceable" really the #1 song of 2007 according to someone, or is that just what you think it should be?

I would say "Hey There Delilah" by Plain White Tees should be at least near the top of the list, if not the #1 song.

How about some Motley Crue???

It made the list of songs NEVER to be played in 2008! Please for the love of God!

I think the contenders would be as follows in no particular order:

Chris Daughtery Home
Carrie Underwood's Keyin the car song
Rehab
Umbrella
Foo Fighter's Pretender
Plain White Tee's Hey Deliliah

I like Amy Winehouse too. She's a marvelous talent and should have a great career if she can get past her current difficulties. In the meantime, I'll vote for Springsteen's "Radio Nowhere."

Hate Amy Winehouse. She's a rip-off of the '40's and '50's Soul and R&B. I guess if you copy something that's old enough, it somehow becomes original again.

Hero, looking at it from that perspective, what music ISN'T a rip off of previous styles?

That's a good point, Chris, but most music isn't so blatant a rip-off. Usually you can say it's "influenced by" an earlier style, but Amy Winehouse is just plain lifted from the 40's and 50s. Everthing from her music to her beehive hair-do.

Oh Come on Hero_of the day. Amy Winehouse is AWESOME! By far one of the best new artists of 2007. Yeah she does copy the 40's and 50's soul, but who doesnt rip music off. If you look at artists like Led Zeppelin and The beach Boys, they both ripped off other styles of music. "surfin Safari" was a rip off of a chubby Checker song, and Zeppelinn ripped off a lot of stuff from Stevie Wonder. So really there is no such thing as originality in music.
I think Amy Winehouse is great! Her new album is soooo good! And the best part is, SHE CAN SING, unlike most of the female aritsts on the radio today!

Elvis was a big rip off artist in his day.

As for song of the year, I vote for the Foo Fighters just to annoy our okie friend (who by the way, I'm quite sure doesn't know the Foo connection to Nirvana).

I thought the "Foo Fighters" were the guys at Wal-Mart that had to unplug the shitters. They had to get out the "Tool" and go at it! Only problem was that the "Tool" they used only seemed to foul it up even more!

The Pretender from the Foo Fighters is probably the biggest rock song of the year.

Plain White tee's did great this year. Good call on that. That song is a huge cross over hit.

Umbrella was probably the biggest top 40 song of 07. There was a really solid chunk of the year were i couldn't escape that song. Jigga!

I agree Amy Winehouse is whack. I can see how someone could like the REHAB song. BUT ITS NOT FOR ME AT ALL. On the plus side, if I ever need to pick up some booger sugar, i know i can always hit her up for a little bit... or A FIST FULL. Cause she is blown out in every recent picture ive seen of her. So im saying that Amy Winehouse is the best thing to happen to the coke market in 2007.

Its interesting how the subject of 2007's best song can be brought up, and all the old people who hate those youngsters and their music start bringing up everything before 1990 (or 1970 in some cases) and try to add their two cents.

Sorry folks, KISN is dead for a reason, and it's not coming back. Your demo virtually does not exist to clients paying advertising dollars. If you haven't heard of the songs released in 07 (nwokie), go post more angry comments about how real music doesn't exist anymore on the blogs designated for crusty old people.

I guess if you are force fed crap long enough you learn to like it. Big difference is that us crusty old codgers know how to tell the difference between diamonds and coal and are not programmed to just accept whatever crap is tossed our way. You youngun's may be bigger in numbers as far as them thar advertisers go but us old geezers got the dollars they seek.

Radoh-
Without us "old" people you wouldn't be around in the first place.

But I can cut you some slack, when us geezers were your age we thought some of the same things.

I do find it interesting that the old songs seem to find a way into much of today's music, either sampled or flat out redone. Only a few of the remakes are decent in my opinion.

But music taste is subjective and not really debatable. There are some talented young singers and musicians coming up, but most are not being heard on the radio. They are cutting their teeth in other ways and carving out ways to earn a living using their musical gifts.

You'll also find many of today’s younger musicians have older mentors who have given them their time, wisdom and experience to guide them. The way you keep the wheel turning is for today’s musicians do the same for the generation behind them.
