While tuning around to find a good channel to put a small FM transmitter on, I noticed that there was a station putting out a good signal on 96.7. Driving around, I noticed that on TV Hwy, I can hear it pretty much from Beaverton to Hillsboro. |

KKBC is licensed to Baker, OR., but it's on 95.3. |

I heard Christmas music on 96.7 and some talk of a 5000 light, 24 channel music/light display from 6-10... no address given. Oddly, at about 6:00 the FM went off... popped a breaker?? The signal seemed to be coming from northwest of Hillsboro, and was fairly weak. |

I first heard this station in 2006. At the time, its audio matched the live stream on this website: |

When the announcer announces this station on the air, he says it fast enough that it's easy to mistake it for "KKBC." Interestingly, when I have listened to this station, I have never heard anything that would suggest that it is a "gay" radio station. |

I've been noticing occasional activity on 100.7. However, the programming is randomly shuffled American pop music and PSAs, rather than the sweet reggae sounds that we used to hear on this frequency years ago. Using 100.7 or 96.7 seems a touch risky to me, as both of these frequencies are second-adjacent to Portland area licensed full-power stations. What is next, an AM pirate on 1570kHz (which is clear during the day and second-adjacent to a local station)? |

1570kHz was once licensed to Forest Grove. KWAY |

How can a radio station have a sexual orientation? Don't all Portland stations serve both gay and straight people? |

Well...some are vertically polarized, some are horizontally polarized, and others use circular polarization. Circular polarization can be clockwise or counterclockwise. Radio broadcasting is all about diversity! |

Sporadic activity usually involves U.S. Senators. While not illegal, you don't want to be caught doing it. |

A couple years ago I remember hearing a station on 96.5 playing a variety of dance music, with liners referring to the fact that they were programming to a gay and lesbian audience. They had quite a good signal downtown and on the near east side. Never could figure out why they picked 96.5 instead on 96.7. They gave K-Love's 96.3 a run for its money in a few spots. I wonder if this new 96.7 is the same operation. |

Hmmm...I decided to take a look at this since I am right next to the Hillsboro Fred Meyer. |

After some more listening, I did hear the "dance music for the gay and lesbian community" slogan. They also run FSN news at midnight, and possibly at other times during the day. |
