Ok, I gotta say it, Boomer Sooner! For those that don't know, Oklahoma was the only state opened by land rush, where you all line up, they fire a cannon, and you rush to claim a piece of land. Boomers are those, that waited for the cannon to go off, Sooners are those that snuck in early, and hid, and waited a little while after the time the cannon was to be fired, and stacked their claim.

Ducks are falling like a house of cards. Wasn't as good as it thought it was. Actually, it was... it's just that Dixon was a bigger factor than we thought. He goes down, the whole team goes with him.

Sad that the only way the beavers stand a chance against the Ducks is because of Oregon losing star players. The Ducks are still favored to win even after losing Dixon. That alone should tell you what the rest of the nation thinks about the Beavers. I hope the Ducks win, but if they dont then its been a good season. Basketball is here and the mens team is 5-1 and ranked in the top 25. As for the beavers, well this is pretty much it for them until baseball season. How sad that the School considers the civil war win a big achievement meanwhile the Ducks consider a pac ten title and a bcs bowl game a achievement.

Actually Vegas has the Beavs by 1 which is pretty amazing. I wish I could hop a plane to vegas. I am a Duck, season ticket holder, but I still think the Beavs win this one 12-6. Defense will score as will special teams. KYKN did a great job today of breaking down the Civil War for the Salem listeners when they did a live show from a local bar and grill. Their hosts were very knowledgable and entertaining, its too bad the Fan uses such hacks as they do. Sometimes the smaller markets have better announcers.

I will be there in Autzen tomorrow standing in the rain wind and cold rooting on the DUCKS (after a bit of "prefunking" in the tailgating lot all morning lol)...though I have seen there are a lot of BANDWAGON hoppers that can't make the same claim...judging by the amount of postings on Craigslist and Ebay trying to offload their tickets this past week.

Oregon played well despite the quarterback fiasco, and Jonathon Stewart played well despite a turf toe. I honestly thought it wouldn't be that close ... but rivalry games usually are close. I'm not going to say that Belotti should be fired, I WILL say that Mike Riley does more with less than Belotti.

Vitalogy, with all due respect, your an idiot. The Ducks and Beavers put on one hell of a game and both teams should be happy with how the season ended. OSU played well and the Ducks with a reshirt freshman at quaterback almost beat them. One missed field goal by the ducks is what game the beavers a chance to win.

Even though injuries are part of the game, I think the Ducks were wounded more by their injuries than any other ranked team. You need a mix of superstars and role players and some luck to make it to the championship game. It would have been nice to have both teams at full strength and see what would have happened. But that's football.

I agree. There is a huge difference in losing a Heisman canidate in Dixon and Mr interception Canfield for the beavers. Both teams are headed to a bowl game and thats more that can be said for the state to the north.

MC: I probably know more about Oregon football than you do. Bellotti should be fired not because of a missed FG, but WHY they missed the FG. With first down, 20 seconds left, tied game, in FG range, and no timeouts, YOU KICK THE FG! Why he thought it was a good idea to run a play to try to get off the hash mark and then run antoher to spike the ball and stop the clock is beyond me. Kick the FG and win the game. We lost because of that piss poor call.

Hearing from Bellotti it was miscommunication. I don't think a coach should be fired for one play even against an arch rival. I think you have to look at the bigger picture and hopefully learn from this. But that is my uneducated opinion since I have no real alliance with either the Ducks or Beavers. I want both teams to do well. And as a side note: Hawaii beat Washington.

Vitalogy, are you on the team? I fail to understand how it is that "we" lost the game due to one call. Thats football. If every play called was perfect and coaches never made mistakes you would have 10 undeafted teams in the pac 10. Dont come in here and throw out "I bet I know more about football then you do" thats just dumb.

No, I'm not on the team, but I did stay at a Holiday Inn last night. My point is, there was no reason not to kick the FG where the ball was on the hash mark with first down and 20 seconds left WITH NO TIMEOUTS. The decision to try to move the ball to center field to help the kicker was a bad decision with no timeouts. Any sort of screw up and there would be no time to do anything. Oregon blew an opportunity to win the game. And as a result, they lost in OT. If we had a time out left, then I would agree to move the ball to the center, but not with no timeouts and a 4th stringer at QB it was an ill advised play call. There was too much risk, and as it ended up, the risk cost us an opportunity to win outright.

And that's college football. Not to worry you'll have next to complain about another blown call or bad play. Comes with the terriorty. Have played enough sports to know you can win ugly and lose for playing well. Ah the human element. The agony of defeat. Sorry I missed the game.
