This morning, on the way to work, I checked 1010 and found that they are simulcasting La Grande 1520. The audio seemed a touch more muddy than that on 1520. 1230 was running ESPN Deportes.

I've mentioned this before: 1520 should simulcast with 1230. They complement each other's signals perfectly!

They have been simulcasting for about 4 to 6 weeks 1010 with 1520.

I predict near future changes in Portland similar to the changes they did in Seattle and Utah. Seattle's Magia changed to it's La Ke Buena Network and Utah's La Bonita changed to La Ke Buena.
I think they should flip Magia to La Ke Buena. They should simulcast 1520 & 1230 as La GranD and flip 1010 to Magia.
Or Bustos should buy an FM to stay more competitive in the Portland Market. I think Churchill also needs and FM to compete with El Rey in Portland. I doubt they are doing well with 1040.

According to the ratings thread, they are not doing well at all with this outlet. The listenership was growing until El Rey signed on. El Rey seems to have pulled many more listeners away from 1040 than it did from 1520.

I predict that things are generally going to stagnate in Portland's Spanish radio. 93.1 will stay Regional Mexican because of that format's successful track record. 1040 will stay "La X," attempting to use HD-Radio to gain a competitive edge. Bustos will keep La GranD on 1520 but might shuffle around the programming on its other AMs (most likely candidates being 1010 and 1230). Neither Bustos or Churchill will be willing to shell out the money required to buy an existing FM station in this market.
