Doesn't matter. Iraq has already been proven to be a disaster no matter the outcome. And as far as backpeddling goes, we'll all re-learn the defintion once the GOP has to distance themsleves from Bush in a few months.

"Iraq has already been proven to be a disaster no matter the outcome." Nice try, but it doesn't wash. If the outcome didn't matter, the left wouldn't be backpeddling. Fact is, Americans support the troops, democrats haven't, the surge is working and the left is scared. Spin away. Herb

"Backpeddling"? Are you on something? If not, it's just another of your sad attempts at sensationalism. Did you even read the article? Because your thread doesn't even match the article at all! "At the same time, they are arguing that American casualties are still too high, that a quick withdrawal is the only way to end the war and that the so-called surge in additional troops has not paid off in political progress in Iraq." "..there is no assurance that the ebbing of violence is more than a respite or represents a real trend that could lead to lasting political stability or coax those who have fled the capital to return to their homes. Past military successes have faded with new rounds of car bombings and kidnappings, like the market bombing that killed at least eight on Friday in Baghdad." Apparently Herbbocrite CAN "make this stuff up"!

"As violence declines in Baghdad, the leading Democratic presidential candidates are undertaking a new and challenging balancing act on Iraq: acknowledging that success, trying to shift the focus to the lack of political progress there, and highlighting more domestic concerns like health care and the economy." Made up, indeed. Herbert Milhous Nixon III

Gosh, I guess I'm still missing the "BACKPEDDLING" angle. Did anyone else find it yet? Let me know.

"...the leading Democratic presidential candidates are UNDERTAKING a NEW and CHALLENGING balancing act on Iraq..." Remember. I'm quoting the socialist New York Times. They spin more than the leftists on this board. Herb

From a cost/benefit analysis, Iraq is a colossal failure. End of story.

Backpedaling? About the WMDs in Iraq? Yep, Bush has been backpedaling about that for 4 years now. Ignore the old troll. He has his facts attributed to the wrong people as usual.

And yet even more democrat backpeddling as they attempt to be everything to everyone. From the LA Times, even: http://www.latimes.com/news/politics/la-na-immig11nov11,0,1110718.story?coll=la- home-center "Top Democratic elected officials and strategists are engaged in an internal debate over toughening the party's IMAGE [bold added] on illegal immigration, with some worried that Democrats' relatively welcoming stance makes them vulnerable to GOP attacks in the 2008 election." Afraid of GOP attacks? Gee, if the democrats are so strong with their 11% democrat-led congressional approval rating, why be afraid of republicans? It's all about the democrats' image, nothing else. Gutless democrats are afraid to take a stand on anything but the 'right' to abort an innocent unborn child. With such spinelessnesss, they deserve to lose their third presidential election in a row. The overturning of Roe v. Wade will place a tidy bow on it all. Herb

"Author: Herb Saturday, November 24, 2007 - 10:27 pm If I had no argument, I'd attempt to squelch dissent, too. Sorry, this is America. Herb" Wow. It finally happened. Transparency and truth bubbling to the surface like the first gurgles of a new spring. Mark the calendar folks, Herb admits that he is obfuscating, sidestepping, and dare I say, backpedaling. Oh, I ought not spin it, he actually said, "I'd attempt to squelch dissent." Just for fun watch what a dog does right after he leaves a brown parcel in your yard. Notice, he never backpedals, but instead, he makes a feeble attempt to bury it. Either pretend to bury it, or go on wandering around with poopy shoes. Is this argument really all that fun?

My dogs do an awesome "burn-off" with their back feet, around the poo. Now I know who's tactic it reminds me of. Scratch and Dash? What does this new Herrbism "Sorry, this is America" mean? Herrbocrite is trying real hard to have an argument, but nobody's really biting. P.S. Again, HerrB, it's 'backpedal', not 'backpeddle'.

"Herrbocrite is trying real hard to have an argument, but nobody's really biting." Twenty-five of the 200 most recent threads (12.5%) were initiated by Herb. Almost all are partisan attacks or criticisms against liberals or Democrats. It's clear to me...Herb is like the schoolboy that teases the most the girl he likes the best. But ask him if he likes liberals and he will vehemently deny it. ("Herb and Hillary sittin' in a tree...") But, he sticks around, and keeps prodding, hoping we all will give him attention. Because, deep down, he's infatuated with the left. It's so obvious...and so sweet. We love you too, Herb.
