The "Hooters" location at 9950 S.E. Stark St. will be closing. The address was not mentioned in the big ad featured in yesterdays Oregonian Sports section. This ad mentioned their Portland Mall location only. I didn't even know Hooters had a 3rd Portland area location. Had to look up the address in the phonebook.

My question: Do You think "Hooters" is having problems finding a clientele in Portland? I myself have never eaten at a "Hooters". I've heard the food is not great. Has anyone else heard of other Hooter closings nationwide?

Virtually all the Hooters closed in the Northeast US recently due to lack of business.

Food completely unremarkable, overpriced, waitresses with attitudes, time to move on. They made their fair share but its over & done.

Now I would eat lunch here everyday, at least until I croaked.

Hooters, like Krispy Kreme, was nothing more than a fad. And as we all know, fads come and go.

If I want to have a meal and look at hot chicks, I'd prefer to just go all the way and enjoy the real thing, not PG-13 Hooters.

The food at Hooter is Disgusting, overpriced, and you have bitchy woman walking around in skimpy outfits! Plus, a lot of these girls are not THAT hot and have really small boobs. I wonder if the one in Beaverton will be gone soon? Hopefully! If Im eating at a place called hooters, I expect these woman to be prancing around with HUGE boobies! A boob job should be a requirement for all the girls working at Hooters.

Didn't the smoking gun post up the HOOTERS employee guidelines at one point?

Can't remember if cup size was in there or not, but it seems to be a no brainer, if the place is gonna be called HOOTERS right.

I once worked with a guy, who was setting up a boob job financing plan. It was going to run out of that closed place, Jiggles I think, in Twally. Basically, he funds the boob jobs, then gets payment over time, with the idea being the hotter they are, the more they will make.

After two years, the extra cash is all theirs to keep!

Yeah, I know it's pretty low brow, but funny as hell to see him working on that business plan.

You could take two failed idea,s and have a country themed reatraunt, C'mon over ya'll to "YawHoo'ters".
The waitresses can all dress like daisy duke!

Mark lindsays place does not need the Yaws theme, it can stand on it's own.

I ate at a Hooters in Fargo, ND about 12 years ago and had Buffalo chicken wings. They were pretty good.

Then I ate at the Hooters in Tacoma about 4 years ago and also had Buffalo chicken wings. They were probably the worst wings I've ever had.

Haven't been to a Hooters since nor will I go!

No great loss.

Never been a Hooters, went to a Playboy Club once, 1966, on way home from Vietnam, went through Denver Airport, while in the USo club there, a guy came up to me, and a Navy PO, asked if we were just back from Vietnam, we both said yes, and he gave us a card, that he said was good for a free meal at the Denver playboy Club, wh had a few hours, so we caught the train downtown, (I kind of thought it was a hoax, but the guy at the club said it was good for a day pass, and a free meal, had a great steak, and some nice scenery, everyone was real nice.

The girls that work at Hooters are the Stripper rejects. These are the gils that didn't make the cut in the strip club industry. No wonder they are so bitter and bitchy!

I've been to several Hooters in Tampa/Clearwater and they had decent food and nice friendly waitresses. Same thing in LA... don't remember which one..possibly Santa Monica. The one in the Mall in Minneapolis was fine. I don't particularly care for the waitress outfits but I did not go for the skimpy (as you say) dressed girls.... you can see more skin at any beach or public swimming pool. One thing I can say is that all the employees I have seen in the ones I have been to have been outgoing and friendly. Even in Janesville Wisconsin. Then I went to the one in Beaverton a few years ago and was not impressed. Waitresses were average. Then the Mall 205 one opened. Same thing. There are some friendly and good looking ones and then there are the others. Some need to go on diets. If they are going to work at a place that requires wearing that kind of outfit, they should have the bodies for it. The food at Mall205 has been average or poor. I don't particularly like the place..... too noisy. Unfortunately, I am with groups and that is where they want to go at times. The fries are bad, the sandwiches are on parr with McMenamins in West Linn...... not good.

I know McMenamins is the place most everyone seems to like around here but in my opinion, they are no different than Hooters. They have good employees and not so good ones. They have good locations and some not so good ones. Edgefield and the farm out on Cornelius Pass are good but the one in West Linn is bad. They are consistently slow to bring food even when they are fairly empty and not busy. The food is not very good. Sandwiches are dry and mediocre. Sometimes the hamburger buns are hard. Some of the waitresses are good but there are a couple who are pretty dry.

Bottom line, just because you have a name does not necessarily mean you are good or bad....depends on the people working there and how they do the meal.

Except for McDonalds. They seem to have the same food prep no matter which one you go to. Maybe the amount of grease changes. And the one in West Linn seems to hire the grumpiest women for the evening shift. I would go elsewhere but at 9PM near 10th street, there is not much else to go to that is fast that kids will accept.

Hey Trixter, I would take a "Hungry Man" Chicken dinner over a dinner at hooters.

The breasts ARE WAAAAAAAAY tastier on a hungry man dinner than at HOOTERS!!!

Like alot of restuarants, not all locations are created the same. I like the food that they make at the locations that were on the East coast and south. As far as the Portland and the NW. Apparently they forgot the instructions on preparing the food and it isn't up to par. Again regardless of the restuarant when you are dealing with franchanisees sometimes you get bad service or bad quality of food. Of course the opposite can be true too. In Miami, the food was great!

To break it down into radio terms, some clusters have lousy programming on every station, and some clusters have great programming on some stations. In the days before McClearchannel the comparison was the same: some locals stink and some locals are phenomenal.

Hooters? Nope. Never went. I have two reasons in no particular order:

1. Outside of eBay, I try my best to only give my dollars to local establishments. The biggest chains I frequent are regionals like Burgerville, Taco Del Mar and Taco Time. There are far too many great local places to eat and be merry to bother with anything outside and invasive.

2. My girlfriend is hotter, smarter, has real assets rather than junk bonds, and bar-be-cues like a goddess of the broiler. The best part is getting to see her wearing anything but a dopey tee-shirt with an owl on it.

Add -- The irony of Hooters closing at that location is not lost on me. As I recall, the restaurant first built there in the 80s was called, Rax. The odds are stacked against that spot for an eatery.

===============================================

Hey Trix! How about this for a tasty treat? Hungry Man dinners chiseled from a radio station freezer. They have a Christmas coupon inside from Kodak that features Michael Landon. In order to cook them in the microwave, you gotta pry each food group out of the aluminum tray with a screwdriver and put the pieces into five coffee mugs.

No carousel in that beast, eh? God, that old Radarange looks like an autoclave crossed with a wall safe -- this could take hours. The final question is whether to try to drink it or chance that the plastic spoon stuck in the potato salad from the Halloween party can actually be "deep cleaned" with cold water and a gritty handful of Boraxo. Bon appetit!

Rax, now there's a fast food chain I sorta' miss. Better food than Arby's.

YugoMan>>A boob job should be a requirement for all the girls working at Hooters.

I'm not sure whether to assume this is in jest, or to take you to task. Either way, the comment comes off kinda tacky.

IMHO, Waddles has more general recognition than YAWS does.

Besides, there is a lot more play in "Waddles" than "YAWS". Waddle in for some waddles. Come on in, get stuffed and waddle out.

The equation needed for a successful Hooters in Portland: 1. Legalize gambling and put in a casino and a giant hotel. (or) 2. The wait staff should be completely nude. Otherwise, there are just TOO darn many strip joints in town.

That's what I think.

OH...the food IS horrible.
