MT. WILSON FM BROADCASTERS Talk KGIL-A/LOS ANGELES adds WESTWOOD ONE's LARS LARSON for 3-5p starting next week. The station's sister Country XESURF-A (THE ZOO)/SAN DIEGO will also begin simulcasting KGIL programming, including MICHAEL JACKSON's show.

KGIL 1260KHz is licensed to Beverly Hills and broadcasts with 20KW directional day & 7.5KW directional nights.

XESURF 540KHz is licensed to Tijuana, Mexico and broadcasts with 25KW day & 2.5KW directional nights. This was the original KFMB San Diego frequency before it became a Mexican assignment in the early 1960's.

Lars on a Mexican-licensed station! Thought I'd never see the day! Better check Hell to make sure it hasn't frozen over (checks National Weather Service's Salem, OR, page... he he just kidding... )

Actually, although I don't always agree with the point-of-view on his show, I think it's great to see another Oregon talent expand his national act.

BTW, I think XESURF has had a ton of different formats over the last few years. I think they've been oldies several times, country several times, nostalgia, and now talk (don't hold me to these, I think there's been as many format changes on that station as Bustos' Portland stations).

The frequency KFMB-AM moved to was 760KHz. Before KXL at 750KHz became a full time station. KFMB could be heard in Portland at night.

No he's not, he against a lot of the policies of the mexican government, and he's against citizens from another country breaking our laws and using resources that could be used by those here legally.

It's all about the ratings. He gets a lot of them when he talks about Mexicans because most of the racist listeners he has like to express their racism on the radio since they can not do it otherwise unless in private.

And of course expecting people to follow the laws of the land in which they reside makes one a racist.

I will not debate anybody about what i said, i just want to ad this: There are many people who have nostalgic views of the United States, and Lars is among them. They simply do not realize that this is a multicultural, multiethnic, multiracial society and that, thanks to the immigrant population, this is a stronger, healthier society. The nostalgic views of those like Lars, hoping to have a monoracial society are not only old, but not valid anymore. I mean, this has always been a diverse community, And thanks to the Hispanic population, it’s becoming even more diverse. The strength of the United States is based not on its language or on its ethnic origin, but on its diversity. Thanks to the diversity, thanks to the respect of this diversity, and thanks to the acceptance of immigrants, the United States is a greater nation. So I cannot understand those who fear the diversity that has made the United States such a great country. Also, I am always shocked by the fact that you find many people like Lars in the United States who believe that speaking one language is better than speaking two or three languages. I simply cannot understand that reasoning. But eventually the United States will have to look itself in the mirror and realize that it’s a truly diverse society and that, thanks to that diversity, it’s a stronger society.

I think Lars may be monocultural but not monoracial. He certianly is for following the law of the land regardless of race and or national origin.

and funny how you like to say your opinion but dont want to hear others... if you can handle multiple cultures, why not multiple opinions?

We can't even celebrate Christmas anymore without insulting someone else's beliefs, so what is so special about a multicultural society? Seems is causes more problems then it's worth.

"Jesus is the reason for the season" is just as problematic as "Holiday tree" is.

If we just celebrate it, on our own terms, and recognize that others are doing the same, or skipping the thing for whatever reason, everybody is happy.

BTW, if you go to kxl.com, click on "What's on Right Now?" at the very bottom of the page next to the links "Feedback, (C)2007 KXL, About KXL, Directons to KXL, EEO;" then select "All Day" from the "Display" drop-down box, it lists "Midnight Radio with Gary McNamara," which is one of the two hosts on the network. I think he used to do middays on KXL right before Lars a little over 10 years ago.
