Indian summer Saturday night, in my garage, cranking down the last bolts on a fresh engine install in one of my collector cars, Dave Records Stone jocking the Saturday Night Oldies Show, and *every* tune is fresh and familiar at the same time. I could go till sunrise like that...

Almost better than sex?

Music, of course.

One can top that three letter word with a woman who not only spends that kind of quality time, but adores the Springwater Trail, John Steinbeck and the Bonzo Dog Doo-Dah Band.

A few honorable mentions:

The sound of frogs singing, a hammock at the coast, Rickenbacker guitars, and -- before the friendly days of Sinclair's "Dinoland" were just a memory -- a '63 Plymouth Valiant.

(Good question Warner -- my guess is pre-meal pie theft! Amus, were you subverting the dominant paradigm?)

It would depend on if you treat sex as a 3 minute 45, or an hour and a half extend play LP.
Where actual intercourse os only one or maybe 2 or 3 parts of the overall experience.

Comparing a great album to sex is just perfect.

You've got the getting in the mood part, so maybe that album opens with a top 40 track. Nice ear candy, easy on the brain, gets the juices flowing.

The woman opens up with a hot dress, flashes the smile and reaches out to touch you for a better connection. Both laugh and maybe reach for their light drink.

Then, if you've got an artist, who is a bit of a romantic, theme carries into the next coupla tracks. These transition easily from ear candy to tickling the mind.

Man and woman exchange friendly banter. They find common interests, and are starting to enjoy who they are.

Our fine artist knows the drill, and moves into a coupla to be classic tracks. Gettin' serious now --serious enough the listener hopes it's a CD, so flipping does not ruin the experience, but this is an album, so that's up and coming.

Man asks, "your place or mine", woman chooses and they are off, leaving cash on the table, not wanting to worry about the bill.

(that record gets flipped)

Side two, another friendly track, easy, but not quite top 40, several transitions in theme, leave the listener familiar, but eager to hear the rest of the story. Lots of new musical elements present, mixing it up nicely.

At their place, our couple hits the bathroom for some human needs, then gets into bed.

Next two tracks are building nicely again, this time hitting a primal groove, lots of feeling, mood, less on higher level meaning, maybe an instrumental, or just long, progressive track.

Our couple hits foreplay, and moves past that.

Second track before last, is the one. It's the tune for the moment. Everybody is happy, and in that other place where we go to be primal and meet deep needs.

(It's happening right now for the "sex for dummies" readers)

Final track, the let down. What a night! Sweet memories, soft talk, maybe just spooning.

Our couple is talking quietly, maybe just looking at one another.

...a girlfriend long ago once said, "Music is like a window to the mind. Good music gets in there and does stuff, kind of like touching or tickling." She, of course, was spot on.

Someone told me that "She bop" By Cyndi Lauper is about Masterbation. I guess if you're doing a little spanky spanky that song might be the perfect choice to "Choke the chicken" to. I also heard that "Dancing by Myself" By Billy Idol is about "Spanking the monkey" to. Hey if you can't get the real thing, Masterbation is almost better than sex. Any other songs that you can "beat your meat" to.????

Be the fifth caller and tell me which of the following songs is not about strumming your banjo...

Vapors, Turning Japanese
The Who, Pictures of Lily
Billy Squier, The Stroke
Isaac Hayes, Shaft

...and you can will a fabulous no-family fun pack that includes the Russ Meyer DVDs, an assortment of natural oils and a $20 Pizza Hut gift certificate.

(Missing, that post reinforces my belief that you ought to be a record producer. I aint cowfloppin' ya. I'm gonna have a smoke and offer one to Warner.)

Gimme a progressive artist, and I'm totally up for that.

Albums should be stories. Few do it. When it is done, the result is golden.

A very few actually carry theme throughout. Priceless!

***progressive as in romantic --story, theme, etc... "progressive", used in that context means songs with elements that exhibit a fair amount of complexity taken as a whole There is prog-rock, and it's cool, but not really what I meant overall. Not political either, for those thinking it.

Always good. Animation is one of my favorite art forms to watch. When we create interesting things, that's cool. When they move, they become personified and that's really damn cool!
