Why did this happen, and why is it a good thing that it happened? Note: I have no dog in this fight.

It happened because CBS Prez Dan Mason did a management restructuring.

Former regional VP Lisa Decker (who used to be the CBS Seattle GM) is now Senior VP/MM of CBS Portland and CBS Seattle.

DAVE McDONALD NAMED SVP/GM OF CBS RADIO’S SIX PORTLAND STATIONS
Market Veteran Returns Home Today

(Portland) … Dave McDonald has been appointed Senior Vice President/General Manager of CBS RADIO’S six stations in Portland, a position he previously held from 1996-2004. For the past four years he has served as Market Manager for CBS RADIO Seattle. McDonald’s return to Portland was announced today by SVP/Market Manager Lisa Decker and is effective immediately. CBS RADIO’s stations in the market include KUFO, KUPL, KVMX, KLTH, KINK and KCMD-AM.

McDonald is a 34-year radio veteran with more than two decades experience as a General Manager in the Pacific Northwest at music and talk stations. He has been with CBS RADIO (Infinity Broadcasting/American Radio Systems) since 1996 and has also worked with Henry Broadcasting, Fairmont Communications, Golden West Broadcasting and King Broadcasting.

“There is not a person better suited for the job in Portland than Dave McDonald,” commented Decker. “He is intimately familiar with the market, its competitive landscape, as well as the staff and client base. Dave’s leadership skills combined with that knowledge make this a home run for the Portland cluster and our company as a whole.”

“While I’ve grown very fond of living and working in Seattle, I’m excited about getting back to Portland,” said McDonald. “We have some incredible stations, highly qualified people and plentiful opportunities for success.”

CBS RADIO is one of the largest radio operators in the United States with stations covering news, rock, country, FM talk, classic rock and urban formats, among others. A division of CBS Corporation, CBS RADIO operates 144 radio stations, the majority of which are in the top 50 markets. CBS RADIO owns and operates KUFO, KVMX, KLTH, KINK, KUPL and KCMD-AM in the Portland

Its about time, these changes are LONG OVERDUE! Kufo is continuing to drop in the ratings and MOVIN can't get any ratings! It looks like KINK and K-hits are the two money makers while Kufo and MOVIN are duds.

Wall St Journal had a story how they are putting all their focus in SALES. Whatever that means!
Mark & Stan are nice guys...wish them the best.
Dave McDonald is one of the best GM's out there.
Welcome back to Stumptown Dave.

"Wall St Journal had a story how they are putting all their focus in SALES.

No story there. It's ALL sales in the Corporate world. Now including a balance of listener satisfaction and programing as well as sales, and running a well rounded company....

THAT would be a story!

Since it was Mak who wouldn't renew my contract because, as he put it, he wanted "a woman's voice on the air", maybe CBS decided to can him because they wanted a male GM. Bye-bye Stan.

(for little rascals fans)

A priceless line delivered by a young Spanky who admonished a younger child in a predicament.......

"Well, It's good enough for you!"

Confuggie say, "He who only concerned with trimming fat someday find only fat left is self!"

From the Poor Dick almanac.

If ye wield thy axe with abandon, ye shall surely find the chopping block as your own pillow. (though your name not be Shirley)

What goes around comes around.

Sow manure instead of seed, and expect your harvest to be shit.

Original Martha Reeves lyrics......

Stanley, Stanley,
Oh Stanley Mak, don't bother comin' back.
Stanley, Oh Stanley Mak, please don't hurry back.

No one is missing you,
My friends feel the same way too.
We tried to work for you, like we promised to do.
But you kept trimmin the staff,
worked us twice as hard but paid us half,

Hey Stanley, Stanley,
Oh Stanley Mak, don't bother comin' back.
Stanley, Oh Stanley Mak, please don't hurry back.

He hotlined us on the phone about three times a day.
Now he'd bitch and cuss and moan, but had nothing good to say,
Now he's gone, He's reached his end,
hope he managed to make one friend.

Hey Stanley, Stanley,
Oh Stanley Mak, don't bother comin' back.
Stanley, Oh Stanley Mak, please don't hurry back.
Don't need your bitching, don't need your bitching.

I wanna say, I'm happy you got what you had commin
join the rest of us out here slummin'
Trying hard, not to laugh,
But, Stanley you really had no class.

Hey, Stanley, Stanley,
Oh Stanley Mak, don't bother comin' back.
Stanley, Oh Stanley Mak, please don't hurry back.
