HRC on one (I still won't vote for her) ...
Giuliani in the second one.

Weird, I answered the questions just the same, and Giuliani was way down in the first one and HRC was way down in the second one.

Biden ranked second on both though.

My top 4 on the first quiz came out weird:

Clinton 12(you have to be kidding me)
Obama 11(noo way again)
Richardson 11(possible)
McCain 9 (getting warmer...)

Huckabee came in dead last(with a 4)...and I kind of like him(personality wise, anyway)

On the second test:

McCain 34
Richardson 28
Obama/Clinton 26(tie)
Ron Paul 25

Last place in this quiz:
Giuliani 11

None of the candidates scored very high whan I took these quizzes, probably because I generally don't lean too far left or right.

If this slate of candidates is what we have to choose from, I won't be getting too excited around election time next year.

Joe Biden and Bill Richardson tie (18) for me in the Minnesota quiz. Obama was close at 17. Mike Huckabee is obviously not my guy; I disagree with him (0 points) on everything.

In the second one, Chris Dodd and Kucinich are my tops at 36, followed closely by Biden at 34; all the rest are in the 30s so I'd say it's pretty meaningless.

The quiz doesn't really allow for disagreement with ALL of the candidates, since on some issues I apparently disagree with all of the candidates.

As I've said before, issues are only part of the presidential game anyway. A lot of it is character and personality. Whom do you trust to make good decisions as president?

Treu. ( That's French for " Troo " ) There is something to be said for being able to see the persons eyes and get a feel.

Plus, they didn't offer any " backwards speech examples " that, you know, according to some guy on Art Bell 10 years ago, speaks volumes about subconscious messages.

AAAAND - as we have all seen time and time again; Where they stand on an issue today is not guaranteed to be implemented as promised. Not just by getting shut down either. But by a full-on 180 degree change of mind.

Anyone wanna " read my lips " to help them predict the future again?

Yeah. All I can remember was the example played of the young child sitting at the breakfast table who watched his dad kiss his mom goodbye before he went to work for the day, who hadn't begun to speak - forward - but sent a message of " Daddy loves mommy " when it was played backward.

And Clinton said " Wolf " quite often during his speeches.

But I digest...

I forget the guy's name, but Clyde Lewis reversed the speech of the guy who claimed he killed JonBenet Ramsey a few years ago. The fact we're bringing this up just before Halloween makes this an even better subject.

BTW, I did the MPR quiz a while back when the link was published in the O. The "top" scores I got were so low they were laughable. However, most of the Republicans were tied at dead last. Not that I'm going to vote for any of the Republican or Democrat candidates anyhow.

Where they stand on an issue today is not guaranteed to be implemented as promised.
We've seen this time and time again anyhow: 'My opponent supports (issue), so I've decided to claim I oppose it!'

The biggest issue for me right now is I think the U.S. should pull out of the Gulf immediately and permanently. Although there are some candidates that support this, I doubt they'd actually implement this if elected.

The other problem with putting all one's eggs in the same basket like that is if they announced in their inauguration speech that the troops were all coming home immediately, then the reason they've been elected has been 'solved,' and we're stuck with the same president for 4 years, so we then elected them on an otherwise blank check.

Besides, many know of how the Republicans and those with large investment portfolios and retirement accounts are profiting huge right now - the problem is the Democrats are also making too much money to care as well.

I know, the candidates will start running ads about how such and such cares about Medicare and Social Security and government handout checks to the deliberately poor, and lower taxes for everyone else (yeah, right), and that will be done to distract people from the real issues. The real issue is Social Security, welfare, and tax refunds aren't going to matter if the U.S. dollar is at 25 Canadian Cents.

This is why I say bring on the third party candidates... oh and Ralph, please stay home! :-) (Thank you Herb for reminding me of that guy the last time I ranted about this.)

Great find Mrs. Merkin! The results have been interesting and I am enjoying the discussion. For gits and shiggles, here are my results.

Minnesota Public Radio:

Kucinich 14
Dodd 12
Richardson 11
Clinton 11
Edwards 10
Paul 10
Obama 9
Gravel 8
Biden 5
Giuliani 4
Huckabee 3
McCain 1
Hunter 1
Romney 1
Thompson 1
Tancredo 0

WQAD:

Kucinich 41
Gravel 35
Richardson 33
Dodd 31
Paul 29
Obama 26
Edwards 26
Clinton 26
Biden 16
Giuliani 12
McCain 7
Brownback 6
Huckabee 4
Gilmore 4
Romney 3
Thompson 1

*cue Underdog theme*

I agree with Andrew and others about the flaws in the test, but it is a fun exercise. I guess this means that Dennis is my Democratic nominee and Ron is my Republican candidate. Together as a pair, I have an all-American no-nonsense, yet utterly unelectable ticket guaranteed to confuse and frighten the sheeple. :0)

(I also thought that the backwards speech fellow on Art Bell was fun. It reminded me a great deal of sitting with a bunch of kids in those stiff blue Telex headphones listening to Satan's Music at church school complete with backwards bits. Some of the highlights included Led Zeppelin, Queen, Styx, Pink Floyd and the Beatles. One gutbuster I will always remember: "Another One Bites the Dust" says, "It's fun to smoke marijuana" backwards.)

Okay, since I know you're all curious...

MPR:

Dodd (22)
Clinton (21)
Edwards (21)
Kucinich (18)
Obama (18)
Richardson (14)
Gravel (12)
Biden (11)
Paul (10)
Giuliani(8)
Huckabee (8)
McCain (3)
Romney (3)
Hunter (2)
Thompson (1)
Tancredo (0)

WQAD:

Kucinich (52)
Dodd (47)
Edwards (44)
Obama (44)

I think Kucinich popped to the top of the second poll because of the question about young hot British babes (I voted "Bugger me backwards!")

Harold Stassen 63
John Tyler 14
William McKinley 12
Adlai Stevenson 11
Aaron Burr 10
Millard Fillmore 4
Sean Penn -36
most of the current candidates -37

Kucinich -212 ( this goober has been around WAAAAAY to long. I have been looking at his name on one ballot or another since his days as a Cleveland Councilman back in the mid 70s... TRY GETTING A REAL JOB and take your buddy Ted the K. with you.

TERM LIMITS!!! You get a max of two terms at any one level.. that would cut the quest for re election cash........

Problem was there were few cut and dry answers for me... sometimes I wanted to combine two or more choices... like stem cell research. I'm for it, but don't think the guv'mint should have to finance it, nor should they have the right to ban it. UNLESS, guv'mint funded cures are provided FREE to those who need them. That goes for ALL Illnesses.

Universal Healthcare. Sure, we pay enough into health care. UH run by the Guv'mint. No freakin way! To many layers of paperwork and red tape now!
The paperwork, waste and abuse eats up so many healthcare dollars now. figure how to streamline the system to make services affordable. I spent nearly 5 thousand of my own money last year on test after test for two different problems. No definitive answers but, they were already to order another round of tests at my expense of course. None of the tests were approved by the insurance company, except the tube up the winkie. And for the other, the IV bag of blue stuff cost 850.00, they never use it all, and you don't get to take home the leftovers! how about smaller bags and use two if you need them! Get the waste under control then we'll talk about a universal plan.

Schools... NCLB is a failure but more money won't solve the problem either. A student incentive plan might be better. Keep the grades up through high school, and state college tuition is free on a year by year basis, as long as you are working toward a degree, and maintain a b- or better avg... Room and board, or Private college is on you. We can't afford to have people coming out of school buried in debt before they even start!

Immigration? Guest worker plan is fine if you can control it. but GWs don't jump to the front of the line for legal status. Work permits last for a defined period, and renewable under certain circumstances. We will provide options and opportunities to come here. Wait your turn do it right or we send you back. If you are caught as an illegal, you lose any opportunity to work here.

How about companies who jump the border at the expense of U.S. workers paying substantial tariffs for importing the finished product?

Predatory lending practices need to be halted. Loop holes, flat out greed, and poor business management that allows this type of lender to flourish needs to be controlled. Used to be called loansharking now it's called a check cashing store or a sub prime loan. Ceiling on interest rates, full disclosure up front of total cost of loan, NO ARM home loans. Risk falls to lender for making loan to someone with shaky credit. Can't bail out a company with poor business practices.

Abortion? not for me to decide.

Iraq? Even when you crush a country with overwhelming power, the patriots within can still cause trouble. (think the resistance in WWII, in nearly every coutry the Axis overran) Iraq is the same, only we used firepower to crsh them, and not enough boots to ensure a smooth transition. Afghanistan was a good move though the Russians an the british before them were stymied in the mountains as well. The world loved us as long as the focus was on the pursuit of Osama Rama Lama Hassant Bin Sober. Iraq soiled that. When Saddam was hung, we should have said Game over, we win, good bye. Iran, we tell President Aneedajacket, your foolish talk is not worthy of a response. Come see us when you get it together. Got Nukes, fine so do other countries. Use one, or sell one to some nut bag, and we will be all over you like butter on toast. Remember only one of us is experienced at using nuclear weapons to end wars! No ground troops. But we will happily play Air Force Bingo. A-6, A-10, B-1, B-2, B-52, F-15, F-18, F-117, BANG-O we win.

Until politicians revert to the philosophy of PUBLIC SERVICE, rather than Personal gain and lust for power. We will all suffer under someone elses personal agenda.

Thank you, and remember a write in vote for me is not only a wasted vote in some minds, it's a vote for common sense. *Send for my free refrigerator magnet offer!

*not an actual solicitation so don't ban me again!
