The wars in Iraq, Afghanistan and anti terrorist efforts abroad could cost the country $2.4 trillion over the next ten years, according to a report Wednesday.

The money, over 70 percent of which would go to support operations in Iraq, includes the estimated $600 billion spent since 2001, Congressional Budget Office Director Peter Orszag said in testimony before the House Budget Committee. That estimate includes projected interest, since the government is borrowing most of the funds required.

The estimated $2.4 trillion works out to about $21,500 per American household.

Without interest, the war efforts are projected to cost about $1.7 trillion. Several lawmakers noted the wide gap. "This entire war has been paid for with a government credit card," one lawmaker said.

But Conservatives of course don't want to pay for it - they'd prefer another tax cut instead and just borrow the money from the Chinese so our grandkids can pay them the interest.

How much does it work out per death of our troops in Iraq and Afghanistan?

But (current lawmakers) of course don't want to pay for it - they'd prefer... just borrow the money from the Chinese so our grandkids can pay them the interest.
Maybe they already have sold everyone in the United States under the age of 30 or so to the Chinese as eventual work slaves... o_O

The RADICAL EXTREME RIGHT doesn't care about figures. As long as they're cramming the three G's down everyone's throat's money and young men and women's deaths don't mean squat to them.
Just ask DUHbya and Co. DUHbya said that the Iraq mess is the next President's problem. WOW! What a guy.
