As Thompson's star fades, Clinton's on the rise

http://www.cnn.com/2007/POLITICS/10/16/schneider.poll/

". . . The new CNN poll by the Opinion Research Corporation released Tuesday shows Thompson's support dropping -- now at 19 percent, down from 27 percent in September.

Pretty big drop. I don't think Thompson is gonna be the GOP candidate.

On the Democratic side, Sen. Hillary Clinton of New York continues to gain support and build on her lead. She led Sen. Barack Obama by 23 points last month -- 46 percent to 23 percent. She now leads the Illinois senator by 30 points -- 51 percent to 21 percent.

Survey sez: President Hillary Rodham Clinton.

For those of you tired of election politics, there's this:

U.S. forces in Qatar accidentally fired a Patriot missile at a farm.

http://www.reuters.com/article/wtMostRead/idUSL1617718320071016

"Those things are not supposed to accidentally discharge," said Pentagon spokesman Bryan Whitman. "It was not supposed to happen."

"It was not supposed to happen" pretty much sums up everything Bush touches these days.

As John Kerry might say, 'Bring Hillary on.'

With her astronomically high negatives, she's the best candidate for the Republicans to run against.

Plus, she's so unpopular with many in her party, in part due to her votes for action in Iraq, that a Hillary candidacy is sure to spark a Green Party candidate...and perhaps Ralph Nader himself.

Run Ralph, Run.

For pure Herb-Scare effect, I hope that Edwards gets the nomination.

Hey, no fair...it's not Halloween yet...

[whilst Herb shudders at the mere thought of such a radical, hypocritical 'man of the people' trial lawyer who lives in such a humongously gargantuan mansion...might get the democrat nod].

Clintons is only on the rise, as far as the Dem party, she still has negatives above 50% with the population at large.

Few years ago, Bill was at a baseball game in New York, and suddenly turned picked up Hillary, and threw her onto the field, after the umpire whispered to him, Mr President, I said the first the first "Pitch".

Gotta love how the GOP jumps on things like the Demo's "high negs" when they've major trouble in their own party. Better to have high negs than low positives.

Thompson is dead then, hmm?

Yep, not looking good for the GOP. Their top 4 nominees have only gathered up $36.5 million, whilst the top 4 Dem candidates have $104 million cash on hand. As they say, money talks, and in more than one way. One must wonder why the party that usually leads in the money department is so far behind.

And remember, all the Dem candidate has to do is win all the states Kerry won, plus Ohio.

And I told everyone here that Thompson was a dud. He should save himself any further embarrassment and just call it quits now.

Vitalogy, Thompson is not a dud, however, he does not have the charisma or style that will translate to success on the campaign trail. He will drop out soon.

Campaigning is just not the same thing as short bursts of dialog in front of the camera on a movie set.

Out-of-context quote AGAIN! How short is the attention span of the right that you can't even digest a complete sentence? Go back and read it again, Deane.

Not just any empty suit, mind you, but a double-breasted yurt with room for a tribe.
