Watch this slide show.

I found this on another board where I sometimes post stuff.

Watch it first without the captions and then again with the captions.

It's moving.

Gulp.

I'm not sure if I can watch it with the captions.

Very moving. Makes all the silly political discussions seem rather trivial.

I can only begin to imagine the agony that mother went through.

Proof positive that life ain't fair.

One thing though: If you read the captions, it appears that the kid was euthanized.

I think the sedative was only to keep him calm while he passed away.

Oh, I learned a long time ago, life isnt fair.

I cant say I know everything that mother went through, but I know a lot of it, fortunatly my daughter had her last major operation when she was 6, but she screamed at me that day, when I gave her to the Or Nurse. I will remember that until I die, having your baby tell you she hates you. and knowing it could be the last time you will see her.

A parent does whats best for the kid, not the parent.

I am having an ongoing conversatoion with my oldest brother in regards to euthanization and why it seems so easy for humanity to put down their pets in a dignified manner yet it is still so contriverisal when it comes to doctor assisted suicide in humans. It is just that death with dignity and at least this boy Derrick got that and obviously so much more out of life.

Undoubtedly life is unfair! Why the ones that don't deserve certain hands that they are dealt is beyond me.

Personally I have been dealt some pretty bad hands but I have to be greatful after seeing these pictures.

/I'm back and so far all is well!

These were heartbreaking and yet sacred pictures for me.

My parents dealt with the death of my sister. She died of a Wilms tumor attached to one of her kidneys. Today she would have had a 95 percent survival rate.

If there is any one thing that truly challenges my own personal faith it's having a parent watch their child die. From diagnoses to death it was 6 months for my parents. My sister who died was 3 and half, I was merely 18 months, my brother 3-4 months old and my other sister 5.

Thankfully my parents found support in their faith, family, close friends and their church family plus the amazing hospital staff. Within a year my mom had written a book about the experience to help in her healing. The night my mother lay dying less than a year ago, one of the pastors in the room mentioned the wonderful reunion that awaited her.

Tragedy and suffering knows no social classes. Peace is found in some of the most darkest of places, yet joy can still rise from the ashes.

I am forever grateful for each and everyday of my life.
