You swallowed it hook, line and sinker, Nwokie. ONCE AGAIN (I get tired of this) a link to the complete story, not just the rightie out-of-context misinterpretation (hint: they weren't just going to NASCAR events): http://portal.tds.net/news.php?story=35088 An excerpt: The four aides were asked to explore public health issues at events involving large masses of people, such as how law enforcement and medical personnel would respond to an act of terrorism or other emergency involving so many people. Lawmakers weren't part of the trip. The staffers traveled to Talladega last weekend, and are scheduled to be at Lowe's Motor Speedway this weekend. Thompson said the immunizations are commonly recommended for people working in hospitals, holding centers and similar locations. "Since committee staff members are visiting hospital and other health-care facilities available at or near these venues, including areas where groups of people are detained before being transferred to other off-site facilities, I believe that the recommendation (not requirement) that our congressional staff receive these same immunizations was sound," Thompson said in a letter responding to Hayes issued Wednesday. "I am sure you would agree that providing immunizations to personnel involved in public safety is good public health policy, and there is no need to exclude staff from taking the preventative measures that the public health community recommends - regardless of why and where mass gatherings are taking place," Thompson said in the letter. Jim Walker, Alabama's director of homeland security, said the Congressional committee aides who visited Talladega worked hard. He said they were trying to determine whether the state and federal emergency response system was equipped to handle weather-related, public-health or terrorist incidents at a sporting event that draws more than 300,000 people, many of them camped out for days. "I might have been a little skeptical about this visit coming in, but these folks worked," Walker said. End of thread. Next topic...

If conservatives were fish, they'd all be eaten by now. There's something about the human species that keep the gullible varieties from consuming themselves. Is it a need for entertainment by the non-gullibles? I wonder.

*plonk* Revving up their engines TALLADEGA, Ala. -- Four boys, each no older than 11 years old, made their way down a dirt road amid row after row of parked recreational vehicles. Their eyes were wide with excitement and their giggles filled the air. Wearing shorts and T-shirts, they could have been on their way to hook up with some buddies to play tag. Perhaps they were already on some secret mission their imaginative minds had conjured up. It wasn't until a beautiful woman walked nearby that the reason for their giddiness was revealed. "Show us your tits!" they screamed in high-pitched unison. http://espn.go.com/rpm/wc/2002/1007/1442624.html It is hard to imagine any context outside of NASCAR where these pubescent hijinks would be considered normal. I wonder if their sisters slapped them too?

mrs m sez: "Were those NASCAR boys the McMinnville "butt-slappers"? Chances are you'd find a "3" sticker or perhaps a "8" sticker around their house. What I'd like to see publicized is the autopsy pictures of the groteque near decapitation of one Dale "The Intimidator" Earnhardt. NASCAR is long overdue for a reality check.

NASCAR is an event, where a whole lot of people of various backgrounds, rocket scientist to fry cook, get together to have fun, and enjoy an event. There is usually a car race involved also. Difference in the McMinville butt slappers and this, they boys asked. They didnt force themselves on anyone. Politness counts.

Unaccompanied boys "no older than 11 years old (walking)...amid row after row of parked RV's" and asking for "tits" is not my idea of kids safety, good parenting skills or family fun. All you need is one pedophile rocket scientist or a tweaker fry cook in an RV to wreck your race day.

If one of those kids, yelled someone was attacking, there would be 10 guys with shotguns ready to defend them. And a few pistol packing mamas. And what happened to the attacker, wouldn't be pretty, justifiable, but nor pretty.
