Anyone know if something happened with paul hanson at KUGN? I was cruising google today and got two lines from a register guard article that quoted "Paul Hanson, Former KUGN News Director" . . . it didn't give me the whole line or the context of the story and the link was dead . . . I know they moved PH to the afternoons and Al Kline to the mornings with Jerry a while ago . . . did anything else change? |

I believe there was a conflict of some kind . . . if memory serves, he was acused of trying to pass a bogus lotto ticket several years ago . . . he maintained his innocence and I never did hear how it was resolved . . . Kind of a shame that something like that can tarnish a rep, he's a hell of a reporter . . . |

I got an e-mail from Mr. Hanson. He is doing fine and is seeking employment. He confides that it most likely will not be in radio. Radio news people are difficult to find because there is no longer a farm system in small market radio to help prepare them. |

Hanson should try for one of the KEX openings... |

Paul already worked for Cheap Channel down in Medford...I think he may have burned or at least scorched his bridge when he left a few years ago to come north to Eugene to work for KUGN. Good luck Paul...radio operators are not willing to pay for a professional news department...Portland....maybe. |

Radiohead . . . did he say whether his next job would not be in radio by choice? Is he looking to move on to another biz? |

I've worked with Hanson at various radio and television stations over the years. He is one of the last of the hard-nosed, old school, take-no-prisoners reporters. I'm proud to call him my friend. |

Thanks Craig. I've been a regular lurker for years but don't post very often. |
