This Saturday marks the 1st Induction Ceremony for the New Oregon Music Hall of Fame(OMHOF)! Background: "In the 1990’s, an organization called the Oregon Music Coalition was formed, electing an Oregon Music Hall of Fame consisting of approximately 50 Oregon bands and individual musicians. Over the years, the Oregon Music Coalition lost steam and eventually disbanded. In 2004, a group of people dedicated to the music scene in Oregon became committed to revitalizing the slumbering Oregon Music Hall of Fame, forming a non-profit corporation using the Oregon Music Hall of Fame moniker. OMHOF will continue to recognize all the former artist inductees and, once a year, will elect new inductees into the Oregon Music Hall of Fame based on several criteria including their contributions to music in Oregon as well as their impact on music around the world. Nominees will include musicians, producers, radio disc jockeys, promoters, and others. Our long-term goal is to have an actual Oregon Music Hall of Fame building that will house displays of memorabilia and music exhibits, as well as host music education seminars." SO, this Saturday the Oregon Music Hall of Fame will quickly acknowledge the previous 50 inductees and will Induct 5 new ones. New Inductees are: Elliot Smith, The Crazy 8's, Roger Hart, Obo Addy and OREGON|Tony DeMicoli. Performers include: Mark Lindsay, EVERCLEAR, The Kingsmen, Mason Williams, Billy Rancher's Unreal Gods & Jon Koonce. The OMHOF website is www.omhof.org

Yes, the Oregon Music Hall of Fame will be inducting DJ's in the years to come. If anyone has any Portland Radio memorabilia that they would want to put on loan to the OMHOF for display do let me know.

Well the 1st Annual Oregon Music Hall of Fame (OMHOF) has passed...and what a night it was! Sometimes events for the first time out can be Hot or Not, especially when it may have been attempted previously. But the OMHOF Ceremony was a success! It was smooth from start to finish, from EVERCLEAR opening the show with "Louie, Louie" with Mark Lindsay joining them to Mason Williams standing ovation performance, then to Portland's biggest and most successful group Paul Revere & The Raiders getting inducted, to yes a DJ named Roger Hart that went on to Personally manage PR&R & Other big acts. Then the Kingsmen closed the ceremony with an All-star jam of "Louie, Louie". However, the crowd was full of the BEST Local "Who's Who". It was like a Reunion that spanned 45 plus years! The OMHOF Board did a great job, spearheaded by Terry Currier & Cast. Plan on seeing more from OMHOF throughout the year, and as next year's event will be bigger!
