Let's remember that "lost the war" and "win the war" and the notions of "victory" and "defeat" are Bush administration rhetoric that Fox has carefully preserved in the polling. (Mainstream media has largely followed along, with a few exceptions.)

Some of us see Iraq for what it is: a war won in 2003 when America defeated Saddam Hussein's military and toppled his government. Since then, America forces have occupied Iraq and been the victim of a somewhat complicated insurgency, sometimes aided by suicide bombers from Saudi Arabia and weapons from Iran.

But we are not actively fighting any nation - certainly not the nation of Iraq. In Vietnam, we were fighting the North Vietnamese and their ally the Viet Cong in the South. In Korea, we were fighting the North Vietnamese and later the Chinese. In Iraq, what nation are we fighting against if we are "at war?"

So...I say Fox's question itself is invalid.
