It's finally happening this Holiday Season. And let me tell you, WE are "IN" The Holiday Season! I'm beginning to see stores stocking both Halloween & Christmas at the same time. I believe this will become the norm in years to come with Halloween & Christmas being introduced on shelves at the same time. I dub this "Hallochris"!

I also see a time in the not so distant future both Christmas & Halloween and the other holidays possibly stocked year round at larger stores. What are your thoughts on this new marketing concept that is catching on?

I love the name Craig. I flashed on a Douglas Fir full of Jack-o-lanterns. One could dress up as Santa and come home with a sleigh full of candy.

"Hallochris" should not be confused with Haulokris the rapping garbage man. :0)

Haulokris the rapping garbage man? Sounds like someone I need to know about but a Google search came up with nothing.

In summary, the police arrested Patrick Lawrence, 22 year old white male, in a pumpkin patch 11:38 p.m. on Friday night.
On Monday, at the Gwinnett County (GA) courthouse, Lawrence was charged with lewd and lascivious behavior, public indecency, and public intoxication. The suspect explained that as he was passing a pumpkin patch on his way home from a drinking session when he decided to stop, "You know how a pumpkin is soft and squishy inside, and there was no one around for miles or at least I thought there wasn't anyone around" he stated in a telephone interview.
Lawrence went on to say that he pulled over to the side of the road, picked out a pumpkin that he felt was appropriate to his purpose, cut a hole in it, and proceeded to satisfy his alleged 'need.' "Guess I was really into it, you know?" he commented with evident embarrassment.
In the process of doing the deed, Lawrence failed to notice an approaching police car and was unaware of his audience until office r Brenda Taylor approached him.
"It was an unusual situation, that's for sure," said officer Taylor. "I walked up to Lawrence and he's just banging away at this pumpkin."
Officer Taylor went on to describe what happened when she approached Lawrence
"I said, "Excuse me sir, but do you realize that you're having sex with a pumpkin?"
He froze and was clearly very surprised that I was there, and then he looked me straight in the face and said..."A pumpkin? Shit...is it midnight already?"

LMAO!!!! Classic. I hope the spirit of Charles Schulz forgives me for saying that a Great Pumpkin is one that prompts you to have a cigarette afterwards. :0)

I'm traditional on this issue. I really like the idea of separate holidays at different times of year. I also like four distinct seasons. Time loses importance if it cannot be marked with different celebrations and gatherings. Do we need a turkey the last Thursday of every month? Actually, that sounds good.

Happy Hallochris!

That's a good story Ms merkin, to start the Holiday Season off on the right "Member".

Was at the Raleigh Hills Fred Meyer today and had a surprise. If you know that location, they always put the holiday stuff by the main entrance to your left with the food court on your right. I was expecting Halloween and some Christmas together from reports but to my surprise there was only Christmas!

I looked around the area thinking I'd find Halloween. Finally I had to ask. She told me Halloween had been moved to the greeting card area. If you know the store layout, that area is almost in the vegetables! It's that far out. I think Fred Meyer is saying, "It's full throttle to CHRI$TMA$!! and oh yes Halloween is on aisle 52...."

P.S. Fred Meyer has their budget Christmas CD's on display in two areas. It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas, Don't You know!

Soon, someone is going to say, "why doesn't radio have a jump on this? We gotta start the Christmas music Labor Day Weekend!" :-)

"Hallochris"
The first time I read it, and the more I think about it, the more it sounds like one of those multiplayer first-person-shooter computer games.

Just saw my first commercial for Christmas. The holiday group Trans-Siberian Orchestra is coming to Portland in December! Buy your tickets NOW while there's still time, it's only three months away!

I'm getting my Christmas Tree up this weekend. Don't want to be looked upon as a "Scrooge"!

I own radio station WSNO 560 made by "Department 56" which was issued in 1999. Craig Walker also owns one:

@little Yes!

Currently in the process of redefining what matters and what does not. If you can't beat it, marginalize it!

You heard it here first folks! Portland's legendary Craigs have universally impeccable taste in holiday decorating. Those are really cool. The kind of thing one might want out all year.

I think the one thing my Dad's HO layout needs is a radio station. One of those art deco numbers with the glass brick windows and a classic freestanding antenna with about a 9" HAAT and winky lights.

What is more Hallochris than radio? Between War of the Worlds and Christmas music, the airwaves are just as important as pumpkins and stockings.

@missing Good! I'm really glad. Too bad my sweetie is sick. I'm having to avoid her -- today was my Monday and I cannot tangle with that kind of ill right now. We both cheered when Cleveland beat New York, and it is quarantine time again.

I believe WSNO was the first radio station to be featured in a holiday village. That's the reason I ordered mine when I saw it. Mr. Christmas had to have it! When I was ordering, I didn't mention I worked in radio but the clerk mentioned that K103's Craig Walker had also just ordered the station.
