I can't think of any reason they wouldn't keep Janine Wolf in middays. If the previous report is correct, that would make 3 former KGW jocks.

John Williams has definitely cracked a mic. I came home from work yesterday to his cheerful pipes on my answering machine. Instead of the usual mortgage, siding, cable and windshield duff, it was a familiar and beloved voice inviting me to tune in Kool. For once, it was kinda nice to be strafed by a computer recording. It will be great to hear John on the air again!

John, Janine and Scott are simply some of the top pros in this market. I'm glad they have found homes on the air again. Listeners will find their on air style comfortable, entertaining and informative. They won't need to "shock" anyone to listen. They will be consistent because of those years of experience.

The only time John Williams and I ever shared a microphone was during the Open Door radio days when he played the part of God and I was Jesus. Man did we both have some major complexes after that gig.

John is simply one of the best and one of the good guys in this industry.

The jock line-up is on the website, alright! To look at it, you'd think they were already on the air and had been for awhile! It also specifies John Williams in mornings, Janine Wolf, middays and Scott Tom, afternoons.

Maybe they are busy writing 100 different linercards and positioners so every break sounds fresh for the first week.

Quick English lesson, Fresh--

What about "stunts"?

Do you do your own? Do you do some sort of freestyle riding? Is there a stuntman who works with you? What?

I realise English apparently isn't your strength (obvious by some of your posts, what yall tink bout dat) but to you think you could expand upon that idea a bit?

Remember, most sentences in the English language used to convey ideas usually have a noun (a "thing word"--Mrs. Jones, Portland, a Computer), a verb (a "doing word"--running, typing, thinking) and an adjective (a "what is" word--smelly, loud, purple.)

For example, consider the passage "Mrs. Jones lives in a green house Northern Portland. She is running to the store to buy a loud warning siren for her boat."

Nouns: Mrs. Jones, House, Northern Portland, Warning siren, Boat.
Doing Words: Lives, Running, Buy
"What Is" Words: Green, loud.

Heed this advice. Don't leave us hanging, Fresh.

"Northern" is an adjective describing "Portland" as is "warning" for "siren".

Very true about "Northern Portland". I don't know why I didn't catch that one (probably attributable to lack of coffee; my eight year old Starbucks Capresso thing died on me Sunday night.........)

But--"Warning siren" *could* also be a noun, if used as a reference to the physical device that emits the sound (such as a horn attached to a can of compressed gas.)

That's an "Adjectnoun"--an adjective that might also be a noun and likely be used as one. (Watch out for these, Fresh--they are one of the vast multitude of oddities involved with the English language. If you are not careful they will mess you up!)

Well, good point Beano, but I keep hoping some great radio will appear, with actual personalities who seem like friends and do more than just follow the format and read the liners, mind blowing station promotions (not just sales promotions), production that amazes you, contests that you'd actually WANT to win, great news people that say things you think about for DAYS, being afraid to tune-out cause you don't know what will happen next... hmmmmmmm Perhaps I've created a radio nostalgia pipe dream! Nevermind...

Back to the automation, back to the jocks who sound like they don't want to make any waves...

The last couple of days, I've heard new produced liners, but no live DJs yet.

Oh, and another piece of personal opinion: "Traffic & Transit Update" only works if they're going to say something like "...TriMet and C-TRAN not reporting any detours or delays..."

I listened to KHITS in afternoon drive today and heard actual spontaneity from the DJ. It was excellent.

So cool to hear a DJ acting like they're clearly having fun, rather than the usual, "I'm just gonna do what they tell me to do and try not to give the office people any reason to fire me. Keeping the job is better than having any fun with the audience."
