So lets say YOU get to start your own radio station in Portland. You can choose any music format you want and you get any air talents you want. What would the format be, and what jocks would be in each daypart? Name the jocks you would have on the station and the music you will be playing. Lets get a little creative on the station. OK?
Lets hear em.

Here is mine.

The station will be called "The shark" and it will be playing "Killer ROCK" from the 60's 70's 80's 90's and today.

Here is the jocks that will be on the station

5-10am Mike Chase and Daria

10-3 Charlie Girl from 97.1

3-7pm- Stacey Lynne

7-12am- Tim Taylor

12-5am- Woody- From the old NRK

This will be the best rock station ever to hit portland, it will play everything from AudioSlave to Elvis. It will be similar to the Charlie format except it wont play Rap and pop.
There will be TONS of "Killer contests" Live Dj's and NO VOICE TRACKING!!!

Mine would be a semi low-key classic rock station playing, of course, the basic "core" roster of classic rock songs/artists, with a few "deeper cuts" and some specially selected newer active rock tracks dropped into limited rotation as well.

Weekday Talent:

5:30am-9am: The 'Bro Jake' Show with Jake Edwards and Martin Strong(current AM drive on 101.1 CFMI-Vancouver, BC)

9am- 12noon: Iris Harrison

12noon- 3pm: Glynn Shannon(along with some special noon-time show-theme will change with the seasons)

3pm- 7pm: Steve Dunbar(evening host on CFMI-Vancouver)

7pm- 11pm: Gloria Johnson(with a special all request 9 o'clock hour)

11pm- 5:30am: Jeff Clarke(sorry about the lousy graveyard shift, Jeff! Also sorry, Mrs_M! We'll make it up to you by NEVER playing "Tree Top Flyer!")

Weekends:

6 - 9am: Charlie Busch

9 - 12noon: Kennewick Man(only on the stipulation that he not use his real name--he has to use the "Kennewickman" monicker on the air!)

12noon-4pm: Roger(although I would make him VT his show...just kidding! :-) )

4- 7pm: "Rotation"(whichever weekday personality draws the short straw--this shift would be voice tracked--sorry)

7pm-11pm: Sarah Bartok's Saturday Night(themed all request show--she is currently at 95Crave and CISL in Vancouver, BC)

11pm-5:30am: Me(I stink badly as a jock, but its MY station, so I'll put myself on early sunday/monday mornings when the engineers have to do routine maitenance. If we go off the air during my lousy show, eh, no big deal!)

Sunday Night Blues 7- 11pm: Bob Anchetta

My prediction:

After 9 months of losing vast amounts of cash due to the ownership's(my) constant meddling and micromanaging, the end would culminate with all of the staff collectively walking out of the station with anything that wasn't nailed down and me and my family having to sell our plasma to pay the last pennies of everybody's wages that they couldn't get from auctioning off the station's equipment. Classic Rock Sonic FM would die with a whimper.

Vancouver , Wa...right on !

Long live Telecaset and Columbia Heights neighborhoods ! 40th street between Columbia and Washington..... rah rah rah !

Shish boom bah...... A great place to shoot DX back in the day with a General Coverage Reciever and a 120 foot inverted V dipole for an antenna.
