Tonight is a perfect night to listen to the radio. The rain has stopped for the moment and the stars are peeking out here and there. I am enjoying a fantastic evening, some of my favorite songs, my permanently favorite woman and a sleepy cat. Tonight, warm and snug in the booth, Craig Adams is making great radio. Did you just hear some great radio? Was it last week? Was it fifty-three years ago? Please let the entire world know for eternity about it. Portland has been blessed with a great deal of talent, and so have the surrounding communities. It is high time we bragged about it. BTW, If we can get the thread to one hundred posts by the get-together, there will be a prize pack. No, you cannot have my John Williams red telephone. :0)

Great Radio.....it's all in what you glean from the phrase. Awesome BTW little, can't top that! Anyway, IMHO great radio is radio that you enjoy and makes your day, maybe even laugh along the way. Every day at noon, I take my lunch in my car....not at my desk. I tune into my favorite station, KGON, lean the seats back, turn up the radio, and listen to and call in my eccentric requests on "Connect the Classics" to the classiest ladiy of Rock, Iris Harrison. This is a great mid-day program that you can unwind with and get a fresh attitude to finish the day with. If you can get through on the phone lines it is a great chance to get some real gems on the air.

Listening to 80's Rock on Yahoo Launchcast Radio. It's included with Verizon Broadband. If you don't like an artist or song, you can click on "don't play again" link!

When we talk of great radio, we're almost always talking about the people between the music rather than the music itself. Yes, a killer format can be 'great,' but every format comes and goes. Remember when we thought that Top 40 was forever? My definition is a bit generation-specific: great radio involves someone who compels me to listen -- someone for whom I'll sit through elements I don't care for (or even loathe) for fear of missing something great. I would suffer through Ray Coniff or Perry Como to hear what Jim Hollister or Hal Raymond would say next. I would endure "Which Way You Goin,' Billy?" in power rotation to catch Phil Harper's next bit. I also have a couple of cassettes somewhere of sheer genius riffs by Howard Stern in '86 when his NY show hit DC - his second 'network' station after Philly. These days I probably won't be listening at work and/or in the car to any of today's soft rock hits... eagerly awaiting the next liner the voice who tracked in Houston is going to read. But that's just me. The target demo is 25-54. I have six months left before I'm no longer acceptable.

In the mid to late 60's, sitting at my dada house in Sand Springs Ok, after about 9 at night, listening to Chicago radio station, forget call signs, but first place I heard Bill Cosbby, and some great Rock.
