I'm still using Adaptec Easy CD Creator 4, since it took long enough for family to figure out that program. I could change over to a free, modern one, but then I'd have to put up with complaints that it doesn't work, and demands to bring the old program back. IRS = It Really Sucks! If you have nothing better to do all day, call 1-800-829-1040 (the real number), and ask something simple, like any of the following: "I'm getting a kicker refund. What line does that go on?" "Can I pay by credit card?" "Can I deduct the money I put into an IRA?" See how many times you get transferred, or asked crazy oddball questions like if you have foreign bank accounts, if you're a citizen of this country, or got Earned Income Credit.

What line does the kicker refund go on? If its music you are trying to burn and you have windows xp or vista, simply open your cd drive folder and drag and drop the music files and create a music cd using what windows already has.

Well, that's better than nothing at all....... Personally I favour "Infrarecorder" (not actually a CD-recording programme itself but a GUI front-end for the DOS/Linux based CDRtools) myself. Looks complicated but is actually really quick to learn. (Supposedly the latest implementation of IR can do dual-layer DVD recording but since I don't have any compatible hardware and discs I really can't comment on that one! Records my MPEG1L3 CD-ROM discs I listen to all the time perfectly tho.) It runs perfectly on my XP machine (and come to think of it, this is possibly the first--possibly even only--positive thing I have ever had to say about XP) but does have issues on my 98. Tends to crash and return a "The device attached to the system is not functioning" error sometimes if I have been using Winamp before trying to record a CD. This is usually solved by saving my recording project and restarting the computer. Obviously it doesn't run on Mandrake unless I am running it in Wine (runs alright but again, has some issues, particularly when recording DVDs. On some DVD+RW discs it will "stall out" about half way when using RW in Wine.) The programme is still apparently in its early stage of life (last stable release was version 0.4, incidentally) so hopefully these bugs will be worked out in time. There are other free GUIs for CDRtools available but this is the only one I have tested and use thus far. (I may try out some others if/when I have time....I have been working odd hours [Graveyard shift] lately.) Enlightenment: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/InfraRecorder http://infrarecorder.sourceforge.net/ http://sourceforge.net/projects/infrarecorder/ (developer page, also has source code last time I saw it.)
