As Semoochie pointed out; Smooth Jazz is back in Portland on 103.3 HD2...and 105.9 HD2 is now "Rock On" with Rockin' Classics.

just noticed that today I thought it was strange to be hearing smooth jazz instead of Spanish pop on 103.3 HD2

105.9 HD2 sounds like "The River" without the AAA lean.

Why are the big corporations going with these generic HD2 formats that sound like they're satellite-fed? That's not going to sell HD tuners! HD2 streams need to be offering more innovative programming, with localized imaging.

How about getting "Pride Radio" on 100.3 HD2?

Maybe 100.3 doesn't have much to be proud of these days. :-)

Undie 100 may be locally programmed. I think they should keep it.

My vote is for Club Phusion. I may be biased since I program it. hehe. At least it would be locally programmed and I'd take extra care with it.

Club Phusion would be another good format choice for 100.3 HD2. As for 105.9 HD2; they'd be much better off with a more innovative, youth-friendly format. Boring old Classic Hits, isn't going to do anything to increase interest in HD Radio.

Here's a great quote from Larry Rosin, co-founder/president of Edison Media Research:

"I've long said HD shouldn't be trusted to anyone over 30. "It could potentially foment the revolution that FM was in the '60s and '70s. Kids will come up with ideas that none of us are capable of, and it will create incredible programming that will drive sales." If you're not programming formats targeted at listeners under 30, how can you appeal to them and get them to listen?
