Yup, that right, government scientists are reporting most polar bears will be gone by 2050. It looks like the Bush Admn wasn't able to get their hands on this report for rewriting before it was released.

"WASHINGTON, Sept. 7 — Two-thirds of the world’s polar bears will disappear by 2050, even under moderate projections for shrinking summer sea ice caused by greenhouse gases in the atmosphere, government scientists reported on Friday. . . .

So, that will also make more land available for growing crops, and maybe even a "Northwest passage".

And they will quit eating all the seals.

Only a selfish bastard would cheer on the demise of species native to their planet.

wGO said anything about the demise, the article just said the population would be diminished, not eliminated.

Who can say for sure it is due to green house gasses over just a natural climate shift we are currently going through. I can't seem to trudge through enough information either way and can appreciate both idea's.

Edit Add:
Or maybe Beano needs to lay off of the Bean Burrito's! HA

What if 2/3 of the world's human population were projected to be gone by 2050?! Something makes me think we'd be doing something about it!

Addendum: I'm not siding with conservatives on this topic, but merely making an observation: I haven't seen anyone else bring up anything to do with conservatism or the Bible until Trixter showed up with his comment - only the normal style of message board fun until that point. Does everything on 'this side of the board' have to turn into a discussion about religion and/or politics?!

How about if 2/3 of the mosquito population were gone by 2050? What do Polar Bears do? They eat seals, another endangered species, thats about it. You seen one, thats about it. Except for the one in Shermans lagoon, he learned to adapt.

Can I pick which 2/3 of the population?

This summer my wife and I took part in and adult Sunday school class based on the book "Living the Good Life on God's Good Earth" by David Koetje. The forward of the book was by Ronald J. Sider who is President and Founder of Evangelicals for Social Action.

It was a nice mix of scripture and ways to make God's creation sustainable. No brow beating just solid biblical references along with practical ways to live a sustainable lifestyle for those of us who profess a Christian faith.

The class was well attended and people were able to share ideas and experiences that they had tried.

I've always questioned God about why mosquito's were created but I doubt God would want to see the polar bear die out.

What if the Snail Darter was the Spotted Owl's favorite food?

No conundrum. In order for the snail darter to be the spotted owl's natural main source of food, evolution to this point would have provided substained numbers of snail darters to feed the spotted owl population.

Mother Nature does a pretty good job if man would stop meddling.
