Portland Trib article from mid-August says he is OUT but he is still on the KOIN website. Anyone have some insight on this one? |

Oregon Media Insiders had a pretty long thread about Ed's supposed departure from KOIN. While I was not a huge fan of his sports coverage, he has been in the PDX market for many years and has had a pretty loyal following... |

For us downstaters who can't watch - is he on the air, or who has taken over? |

Kkb, Ed is no longer on the air. Generally Dan Christopherson has been doing the sports segment. I think they have another person as well, but I don't generally watch all the time. I live on a fringe area and don't have cable so I don't always get a clear signal... |

You need to do something quickly or you won't get any signal at all! |

On the weekends lately Ken Boddie has been doing sports in addition to his anchor duties. |

Perhaps Ed didn't want to go the botox route (like Mike Donahue) so they showed him the door... |

you hit the big "5-0H" and work in broadcast its the half century curse. Lot of times you need botox for your brain and a personality transplant into the gen X or dot.com generations. |

I occasionally saw Ed when he came into the newsroom at KYXI. A real character...and full of character, too. Loved him on 6. When I got to come up to visit family in the Great Northwet, I'd always have a big wide smile on my face when I dialed across and found him doing the sports report. |

Do you think his first broadcast at a new station will start with "Hello everybody, nice seeing you again"? It wouldn't make sense if it's his FIRST broadcast. |

Well he would be "seeing" everyone again...just on a different station...and hoping his loyal viewers/listeners migrated over to see HIM again. |

Doug LaMear won a three-year reprieve with some fan-induced "sponsor pull." But that was 18 years ago ... eons in the biz. |
