Maybe in a couple of months when the weather turns, the kid's get settled in school, everyone gets through vacation season and before cold and flu season, and the summer outside work is finished for the season. Anyway.....just kind of a cool looking place and Val Ring gave it a thumbs up! If this is amenable then maybe we could shoot for sometime Mid-October.

Actually, it's mostly sorta like a live discussion of actual radio discussion. If the politics come up, it's usually a brief extremely general comment or two and stops there.

(I've personally come to the realization that since this is a message board it makes it easier to talk smack or be perceived as such, since people know that screennames represent an actual person, but since they don't actually see who they're talking to that somehow gets turned "off," and in reality whoever it was didn't realize they were doing it and/or had no intention of such. Or, they think 'there's no way some professional could possibly be behind one of these - what kind of screenname is that anyway?')

I've been to two of these, including the very first one and the other one earlier this year on W. Burnside (I was the guy wearing the orange sweatshirt and had the stack of bus schedules... - yes, the e-mail address in my profile really works). Everyone really seems to enjoy it, even the ones that think 'OK, I'll stop by but I dunno...' I'd say the perception is like a negative difference of a picture of a TV dinner on the box and the actual product in the box - here the picture on the box looks like the product might be crummy and questionable but what's inside is one of the nicest things ever...

I thought about it but last time I did that is when my Stalker suddenly appeared. The res is confirmed for 20 and I think we will be close to that but the more the better, i'm sure we can all squeeze together. Should be a hoot!

Mark Lindsays Rock n Roll Cafe is indeed a great concept and very nice place. They will or already are a Portland instition.

Man, I had every intention of coming.

But you know what they say about plans!

My son has had a sore throat for a couple of days and we were planning on going to the Doctor tomorrow, but when I got home from Church he said that he had been spitting a little blood and the inside of his throat is all swollen and has white bumps on it. (Sorry for the graphic!)
So I took him to the Urgent Care that our Doctor owns and they tested for strep and mono, both were negative, thank goodness, so they gave him a prescription for an antibiotic and something to help with the soreness.

He'll be fine, but I'm bummed about missing the get together.

Next time for sure!

I think the unusually nice weather along with the unexpected kept several people from attending but was still great to meet some new people.

However, the torch for planning the next one did not get passed so who want's to volunteer for planning the next one, say around springtime?

I couldn't make it for all the reasons you just gave, DT - too nice out to not get some of the final fall chores done. This kind of weather doesn't come along often this time of year.

I would propose the next in late winter, February-ish? The worse the weather, the better my chances or making it.

A good time was had by all(seven of us!)...got to meet the "famous" Alfredo_T...and talk pro wrestling with Shyguy and eat a pretty good meal...after the meet I got to see the Timbers kick Toronto FC's butt 4-1...all in all, a decent night.

The get-together was pretty good! I liked all of the photos and memorabilia that they had at this place. They make a pretty good milkshake, too! It's too bad that Herb and DigitalDextor couldn't make it. Maybe next time.

I wish I did not have to work so late, but fortunately, I was not the only one. I got there just in time to meet an old radio friend and we shot the bull for a while. It was just the two of us, but we had a lot of fun talking about the medium.

The R-n-R Cafe is a cool place, the staff was tops, and the carrot cake was tall enough to freeclimb one side and repel down the other. The waitress was not only efficient and graceful, but cute as a button. She parked us right under the speaker upstairs and I thought that was a really nice touch.

I missed meeting -- and reconnecting -- with all of you, and I look forward to the next shindig. Heck, even if I have to rearrange my work schedule, I will make it. Herb, you will make it too -- even if we have to gather at a KLYC remote. :0)

Add: I forgot to mention that you can see the new DARSAP unit through the window at the K-Hits corner!
