As CREW notes, Sen. Larry Craig was forced to give up his committee assignments by Republican Senate leadership, yet two other Republican Senators under investigation or who have committed crimes, Ted Stevens and David Vitter - have been able to keep their assignments:

Now why do you suppose an incident related to gay activity is so much more serious to the Republican Senate? More serious than soliciting a prostitute (Vitter) or being investigated by the FBI for bribery (Stevens)?

Note that when the FBI found thousands of dollars of cash in the freezer of Louisiana Congressman William Jefferson, Democrats in the House immediately stripped him of his committee posts.

Because neither have been charged, like Jefferson has.

But Jefferson was charged only recently; a year ago he was just being investigated, like Stevens is now. Do you think Pelosi was wrong to strip him of his committee assignments until he was charged?

What crime has Steven's committed?

Well, maybe the Democrats were too rash in stripping William Jefferson of his committee posts when he was first investigated by the FBI? At that time he too had not been accused of committing any crime. Jefferson was eventually indicted; maybe Stevens will not be.

What about Vitter? Shouldn't he lose his committee posts too? Was his crime less serious than Craig's?

Stevens, IMO, is a jerk and an asshole. I'd love to see him bite the dust. At the moment however, they are simply trying to see if he took money in the form of some remodeling from a contractor he had done favors for. My guess is yes, but that's only a guess. If he has to resign, I'll be the first to cheer. But at the moment, nobody even knows if there was any wrong doing.

In the case of Jefferson, evidence of wrong doing was pretty apparent from the beginning. $100,000 in marked bills in your freezer just doesn't grow there.

I'm not aware of what Vitters did, but if it has something to do with sex, I suspect you libs will denounce it since you're so gung-ho for a homosexual childless society.

Yeah. There couldn't possibly be any other reason other than, lol, wanting a homosexual childless society. I'm SO busted.

That's an awesome one, by the way, Deane. Legendary.

Dumb or Dumber are your choices.

Luckily, since I gave actual birth to a child, and that means I have a yoyo-smugglin' camel-toe hoo-hoo, I am forced to live out my days with the soft pink(o) castro-lovin' militant bunny-huggin' global-warming hand-wringing terrorist-supportin' gun-hatin' homo-friendly NAMBLA anti-God Everybody-needs-an-abortion campers. Phew, it's a lot to live up to.

Shootin' bunnies? What are you talking about? God put bunnies here to hide eggs to give us a reason to celebrate Easter, right?
