I don't remember ever having seen any thread like this so here we go. If you know any really interesting, or sort of interesting, Portland historical websites, lets see em'.

If this is a bad idea it's all my fault, but if a good one Trixter sparked my interest in an old amusement park, (Pixieland), and I found the following site which I thought i'd share:

Pixieland can be found on the Oregon coast link at the bottom of the page.

Mark Moore who is "pdxhistory" webmaster as done an outstanding job presenting memorabilia he's collected over the years and sharing it with the on-line world community. Anyone who is interested in local history that has not checked out his site is missing out!

I checked out the site when it was brought up some time ago. I had no idea there was a direct correlation between amusement parks and streetcars or that there were so many of the former. I was also surprised to learn just how big an operation Meier & Frank was prior to the May Company purchase in 1966. On the other hand, I was astounded that there was an inn or something at the absolute peak of Mt Hood from(I think)1915-44! Imagine working on a project like that with the equipment available 92 years ago, 11,000 feet in the air!
