We'll never elect the right leaders when the American people are so uninformed. They have no clue how to select a candidate, so they choose who they vote for all the wrong reasons.

FOXNews is one of the reasons for this. Instead of showing the American people what is really going on we're shown what Blonde blue eyed co-ed is missing this week.

People make up their minds on who to vote for, a lot of ways, some vote straight party line, some vote on just one issue. Some research the issues and candidates and try to find a candidate, that fits their philisophy on most issues. Some vote against a candidate, because of one issue.

In this great country of ours, thats their right!
A politiican has to reach out to a lot of people in a lot of different ways to get elected.

I think it will come down to this choice for the uninformed:

A. More of the same (GOP)
B. Something different (Democrats)

And I'm willing to bet the majority of the uninformed might want something different in 2008.

I think the election of 2004 proves your point well. As for 2000, I think the American people did make the right choice, by 500,000 votes, instead of the candidate who eventually took office.

Andrew, I was hoping this might be a nonpartisan thread because I think the problem is universal, and a bad thing for America.

People made the choices they did in 2000 and 2004 because Bush appeared to be the lesser of two evils. Whether he was or not will be the subject of debate for a long time.

I remember my grandmother saying she supported Reagan because he LOOKED very presidential all the while Reagan was trying to undermine the very social security benefits she was struggling to live on month-to-month.

(She did think Clinton looked presidential too. Fortunately she wasn't alive when Bush came into office -- I'd hate to think what she'd say.)

LOL @ Roger! Looks are everything!

Nancy Pelosi isn't even in our state, but she is so stacked that when she leans north we feel her vast influence. Can you say SILF?

I voted for Paul Simon and Earl Blumenauer for only one reason: Oregonians should all wear bow ties!

I wonder how many voted for Paul Simon because they like his music. :-)
