Portland Wrestling was so popular it was even on Seattle TV...I think Channel 11 if memory serves.

Way back when I used to bus tables at the Quay. Dutch Savage used to come in for Sunday Brunch from time to time and yes folks....those are real scars on his head!
I'm pretty sure he's the one in the dark blue with the beard in the second link!

Ah yes! Lonnie Mayne, "Tough" Tony Borne, The Von Stiegers, "Chief" Billy White Wolf, Dutch Savage, Haru Sasaki. What a time it was! Staying up watching the old black and white TV, popcorn and coke in hand, and Frank Bonama and his fantastic suits! My favorite part was when Lonnie would eat glass. Priceless!

Excuse any misspellings. Thanks for the clips!

Ahh Yes! The days when there was "Excitement In The Air" are back! See pictures of Lonnie Mayne, Tough Tony Borne, Dutch Savage, Playboy Frankie Lane, The Von Steigers, Mr. Fugi, Beauregard, Man Mountain Mike & Sandy Bar:

It's hard to believe that the old Portland Armory is now gone and the Portland Sports Arena is a church rec hall.

What kid that grew up in Portland in the 1960's & 70's didn't watch Portland Wrestling every Friday or Saturday night?

Jimmy Snooka was my favorite! Loved it when he got pissed off and did the Figi island war dance!

Hard to believe that Jimmy Snuka is still wrestling these days. He must be in his early 60's.

Am I the only one who loved "The Claw?" My mom would drop me off at the Lane County Fairgrounds on Friday night when Portland Wrestling came to Eugene. BTW, I got an e-mail from Dutch a couple of months after I queried. He has a website and is doing the Lord's work in SW Washington.

And don't forget about the Kangaroo Brothers...I think Johnny Boyd was one...can't remember the other. Started out as "good" guys then eventually turned into bad guys and the nemesis of Snuka and Cowboy Frankie Layne.

And Ringside Rosie...I think she just passed away a couple years ago.

A friend and I got Lonnie Mayne's autograph as he sat in his red corvette outside Madras HS prior to their exhibition there. I may be wrong, but I think he died in a car wreck...always wondered if it was the same 'vette.
