This whole thing with KINK still makes me a bit nausiated. Why woulld they get rid of the best talent on the station(Inessa) and replace her with a part timer?? I've never been a big fan of Kink but have always felt that Inessa had one of the best voices for AAA format. Now I'm not knocking Steve Pringle, because he sounds great, BUT it makes me wonder why they dumped Inessa. And correct me If Im wrong, But wasn't kink hiring a new music director from Seattle that would be filling the midday??
Again, this just goes to show you, no matter how talented, or how great you sound on air, or how great the ratings are, you can get blown out in an instant! This industry is BULLSHIT, I don't know how anyone can put up with the political Bullshit!
Best of Luck Inessa, you will find work quick because you sound great!

Yeah, Inessa did have that golden voice that fit the station perfectly. I never would have guessed that she would get shown the door, or kicked down to weekends only. My question is, isn't Kink unionized?? Someone told me once that Kink had a union for the jocks. If they do, go to the Union, If she paid union dues then where is the union when she gets fired (for no reason at all) if thats really the case. Id run out and hire a lawyer, if this was the case, and Im suspecting it is.

Being a jock in radio is a double edged sword. You get fired if you can't bring in the ratings, you also get fired if you are bringing in the ratings because these cheap ass companies don't want to pay for your salary because you are making too much money.
Inessa woulld make an excellent mid-day host for Charlie.

There may have been a just a 'murmur' of a raise and that is all it takes to get the the Lizzie Borden 40 wacks and down the long and winding road you go. If you quit playing the "gee im so happy to be here for the same compensation and never wannah go anywhere else and give me more work to do... game"

Hiring a partimer for a midday full time position makes elegant sense to a corporate type. They get an automatic raise. Which really isnt a raise to the Operational Budget, but is a raise to the "new" talent. It is also a raise in status, which goes a long way towards the promotion of an overwhelming positive attitude of the new fulltime person, which is desirable around the water cooler and other key places in a radio station, like the production room. This works for at least one "book" maybe two, depending upon the market you are in, then "they" do it all over again.

I don't know what the KINK union contract looks like now, but when I was in AFTRA 10 years ago at a different Portland station, the contract said essentially that employees could be terminated at any time for any reason. The only positive was we had to be paid severance based on how long we'd been employed.

The union doesn't provide much protection.

That's a damn shame that Inessa is gone. I really liked listening to her. When did this happen?

Gotta be honest Humbleharv, Never listened to Kink much because I can't stand the music they play. That being said, I have always enjoyed Inessa on the air. I remember her from the old Q105 days, she has always sounded excellent on the mic.
