Imus was fired in April after referring to a mostly black university women's basketball team with a racial slur, generating a storm of controversy that led CBS Radio to cancel his popular "Imus in the Morning" show. The Imus show was carried on 61 radio stations across the United States including CBS-owned WFAN in New York. WFAN announced on Tuesday that former NFL quarterback and CBS sports broadcaster Boomer Esiason and Craig Carton, an afternoon FM talk radio host, would become hosts of a show that takes over Imus's former weekday morning 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. time slot. Imus had threatened to sue CBS for breach of contract, his lawyer Martin Garbus announced after the dismissal, but it was not confirmed if the lawsuit was ever filed. CBS spokesman Dana McClintock referred further questions to Garbus. Garbus did not immediately respond to a request for comment. The Drudge Report Web site reported Imus would receive $20 million in the settlement.

That $20 million, plus what they lost in advertising dollars is a pretty bitter pill for over reacting.

From the sounds of it, he is not going anywhere-- "Meantime, Imus is talking to WABC-AM and other stations about making a possible comeback, a person familiar with the talks told The Associated Press." http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,293222,00.html

From AllAccess.com "NBC Forced Imus Into Sharpton, 'Today' Appearances" FOX NEWS' Website is reporting that NBC SVP PHIL GRIFFIN "coaxed" DON IMUS into making his infamous appearance on Rev. AL SHARPTON's radio show and other apology appearances after the WESTWOOD ONE/MSNBC/WFAN-A/NEW YORK host's comments about the RUTGERS women's basketball team. Gossip columnist ROGER FRIEDMAN writes that he was told by sources that IMUS had wanted to apologize directly to the RUTGERS players and "leave it at that," but GRIFFIN insisted on IMUS making appearances on SHARPTON's show and the "TODAY SHOW," allegedly under the threat of cancelling the MSNBC simulcast if IMUS refused. "He didn’t care about IMUS," FRIEDMAN quotes a source as saying about GRIFFIN, "only NBC. He told DON he would lose the MSNBC show if he didn’t do the interviews. Then NBC canceled the show anyway."
