12 years and you're on KPSU? It is a lack of trying or a lack of overall talent that keeps you from working on an actual radio station?

"KPSU is a good college radio station; we have a variety of radio shows. For those who have been hating DJ Frresh, you have never heard my radio show. I have been doing radio for 12 years; I learned radio [broadcasting][hosting] from one of the best radio DJs in the Northwest, "The Spazz". That's why Hip Hop [has] never [broken] out on mainstream radio. Show support for real DJs that are down with good, positive Hip Hop and R&B music!"

Fresh, I have heard your show. To be brutally honest, in the long haul I'd much rather listen to and support KBOO. Alma Mater issues aside--I, myself just happen to be a Clark Penguin ("what yall think bout dat")--KBOO has been known to play Philip Glass. That definately makes it win out over KPSU as far as I am concerned........

Now come on Fresh, I have stated my honest opinion. Don't have a thromboembolitic myocardial infarction on us now..............

Bonger sez~

Fresh, honestly, you should try your programme at KBOO. From what I have heard you play on your programme, it would fit in PERFECTLY on the BOO!! ;o)

(Not to mention you'd likely get far better listenership, as KBOO has a significantly larger coverage area than KPSU. Just statistical fact!!)

Hey Motozak2,

There is a show on KPSU that has played Phillip Glass. It's on 7-8 p.m. Saturday evening, the name of the show is "Something Something Something".

Just as an FYI.

Thanks, I should check that out to-morrow night.

And I can't remember, but does KPSU broadcast in Cquam mode? Because that appears to be on while I am coming home from work, and Philip Glass' recordings (as well as pretty much most others made in the last fifty years or so) generally *do* sound way better in stereo...........

Although I can't find it (rightfully deleted?), I thought there was a post here a while back that said DJ Fresh was kicked off KBOO.

Wait a minute. Don't you need to be a student or something to be a DJ on a college radio station. It seems fairly obvious that after 12 years of college fressshy stihl flunkin englush! Maybe that's why he ain't no yet gradiated and gots hired at a reel rad staytion!

College stations often give a portion of their airtime to adult volunteers for specialty shows that run for many years. This gives the stations some consistency that a revolving door of students can't otherwise provide.

Once again, you are right Randy. Not as downright hilarious as usual, but solid. :0)

I still think Fresh is texting, so we ought to cut him a little slack on the verbage. Like Herb, he still seems to bring the best and worst out in everyone.

Months have passed, and nobody has talked to the actual DJ and asked him if he is posting. Or heck, simply welcomed him in person. So, who knows, he could just be a bored colleague yanking our chains.

It isn't the real DJ Fresh posting here, several KPSU air-ops have asked him, he says no.
This little troll should be totally ignored.

Probably.
A few months ago, while waiting for a bus, I made a transfer to the Fresh Connection. It's just not my type of music. Back to FM I went.
(Oh, BTW - never heard his weekly show, but anyone else heard the stuff that Nibler voices?!)

For starters, if someone is notoriously bad at spelling, they can write what they're going to say in a word processor w/ spell checking (MS Word, OpenOffice Writer, and AbiWord all have this), that'll at least make sure words are spelled correctly.
Seriously, if I ever met someone who's writing and grammar skills were this bad, I'd recommend they take some remedial classes at PCC, MHCC, Clark, or wherever.

I dunno about that. With the way schools deemphasized correct spelling while writing compositions in the last 10 to 15 years, I really wonder if such former students would recognize when a spell checker needs to be used!

All 3 of the programs I've mentioned (2 of them are free!) are set to check your spelling as you type. All of them place a squiggly red line under anything that's misspelled. It won't help with grammatical or word use errors (their, there, and they're, as an example), but it's a start.

Not to mention the Mozilla Firefox browser, also free, will red underline spelling errors right in the "Post" box. (I do have some mixed feelings about Firefox in general though.)

Yep. I've finally upgraded. I like it.

(always liked it, but I just don't upgrade stuff, unless I have to. Too many issues, not enough time.)

The in-browser spell check is winning me over. Prior to that feature, I just didn't spell check period. It's a forum conversation. Nobody should care. (but some of us just do)

Now it's easy, so I'll entertain it, more often than not.

I would prefer he get blocked from posting or just totally ignored. Its tired humor and racist. Its obvious he is trying too hard to type in the Eubonics style of linguistics and its now, again a tired story.

When there a public forum like this, you'll find the "djfresh types". What is the point of hassling him? That is exactly what he wants. Those who criticize him seem to want to control him by putting him down and saying he is wrong. My advice: use a little love and tolerance toward him; accepting him for what he is. He loves radio just like others on this board do. Djfresh is not committing a crime, he is just being who he is.

I think Nibler is very funny. Not all of the stuff he does is a homerun, but when he's really on, he's great. And he does a great job of other voice stuff.
