I'm surprised that the public hasn't been outraged enough to cause change to happen. I won't fly anyway now unless I have no other option. |

It's all President Bush's fault. Can't he do anything right? |

Stop disrespecting the President of the United States, DD. It's CLINTON'S fault, obviously! Bush has been in office only 7 years and hasn't yet had enough time to deal with the airports issue. Clinton had two full terms and did nothing. |

Bush is worse than Hitler? Worse than Saddam, Milosevic, Mao, Ho Chi Minh, Stalin, Pol Pot? Worse than Idi Amin? Mugabe? Huh. Amazing. |

Our airport problems are mainly due to de-regulation. On the surface, seems to be a republican issue, but if I'm not mistaken, Jimmy Carter was responsible for de-reg. If any industry needs to be re-regulated, aviation would be the one. Yes, might raise fares, but IMHO, be worth rescueing this integral part of our transportations system. Right now, airlines can do anything they want. And it is creating chaos. |

Someone feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, but my understanding of airline deregulation is that it lifted the restrictions on airlines themselves, as far as where and who they could serve. The airports themselves (physical structures) are usually publically owned and if they are falling apart, it seems to me that's due to a lack of public funding to keep up with the times. |

Vitalogy - exactly. I can't speak for EVERY airport ... but working at PDX, I do know of that airport ... it's owned by the Port of Portland, who allocates the funds for upkeep, etc. I'm not sure if the FAA has jurisdiction over the tower structure itself ... but the Port has it over the airport itself and the surrounding structures on the property. |

But Trixter - Clinton getting his hee-hee hoo-hoo'd by an intern is a far worse crime against humanity than is the needless deaths of over 3500 US troops and hundreds of thousands of Iraqis! Don't you KNOW this by now?!? |

Its those SCAB air traffic controllers Reagan hired. After they joined a union, the feds had to cut somewhere else. |
