I noticed something on 93.5 and also 104.7. At first, I thought the latter was KDUK but it kept stopping on my seek. Both are Way FM and the second one is winning a battle with KDUK in an area where KDUK used to sound pretty good. I don't think either of them have been there very long. Has anyone heard one or both?

Where are you? I'm picking up Way-FM on 104.7 and maybe a faint signal on 93.5 from the west side of Sylvan.

My Guess: 104.7 = K283AI Longview (22 Watts) 93.5 = K228EU Woodland (95 Watts Vertical) I can hear them both from Hillsboro with my antenna pointed North. I get KDUK ok if I rotate the antenna to the South.

Jr. Tech: Your right about K228EU Woodland but K283AI Longview is on 104.5. What You, Semoochie and I are hearing is the new K284BF 104.7 Chapman OR with 13 watts vertical. It's also owned by Way-FM as K283AI. I brought this station up on the "Towers & Such" thread on June 9th when it was a CP.

I can hear both of them from the downtown corridor to Clackamas. 93.5 isn't very strong in most places and it was hard to make out what they were saying. 104.7 seemed fairly strong with a lot of multipath noise and never really clear but enough to overpower KDUK, which tried to break through on occasion. I didn't tune into 104.7 soon enough to tell if it was west hills based but it sure seemed to be getting out.

Now, I remember the discussion about it being on the Skyline tower, thanks!

Craig_adams: Your are correct... my mistake, I missed the Chapman station because I was looking in Washington. K283AI does have a cp to move to 104.7 in longview: http://www.fcc.gov/fcc-bin/fmq?list=0&facid=38908

Once again it is worth noting that ONE LETTER to the FCC will get these translators turned off if they are interfering with a licensed station you may be trying to hear. Be sure to CC the owner of the station your are trying to hear too. WAY to go.

It makes you wonder why they authorize them in the first place if they're within listening range of another station. I know there's a mileage separation for LPFMs that overlap in this way and they're in the same boat as the translators. Full power stations have similar mileage requirements but are protected.
