This is an excellent look into how design can be applied toward human behavior.

I find these machines always interesting. Every year, small improvements yield ever higher revenues while maintaining a high entertainment value perception.

I didn't read the whole article, but I didn't see much there about how slot machines in recent years have become glorified video games for adults. Start with the colors, the animation, and the action that kids love, then throw in the added thrill of wagering and WAMMO, you got a winner! (Well, a winner for the casinos, anyway!) Someone in this industry got it right!

I prefer the old mechanical slots.. much more fun.

Destroyed by the thousands until someone found there was a market for them. Now the few remaining cost plenty. still a few around to play, in some casinos in Nevada, but not many

I actually read the whole article, thanks KSKD. I learned that the machines with best odds are the ones at the ends of rows near main traffic areas, but away from card tables -- the worst are the ones deep in the middle of rows away from higher traffic areas and nearer the card tables.

Now go to Spirit Mt and help keep state taxes low for other Oregonians.

ps: I'm thinking that people with gambling problems would still find a way to get their fix with or without these legal gambling outlets in our state.

The loose machine hints are absolutely true. When you size up the floor, just picture how the money and people will flow.

I once read through a ton of machine payouts while my wife was cleaning up at the Poker Tables.

All I am gonna say is look these over closely. There are a few machines distinctly different from the others in this regard. They are worth playing, after you think your bet over.

Hint: Fewer lines, higher dollars per line.

I would name machines, but that is no fun...
plus those money grubbers probably read.

I've never played a slot in my life, but just the mention of slot machines makes me think of getting off any plane at Las Vegas airport, and hearing the ching-ching-ching-ching-ching-ching-ching-ching-ching-ching-ching-ching as soon as you're in the building.
