More of the Democrat "do as I say, not as I do".

Al Gore, arguably one of the dumber politicians out there, managed to serve the world's most endangered species of fish at his daughter's wedding.

This comes on the heals of the revelation that his energy use in one day rivals many American's use in one year.

Is it possible some of you liberals need to think what you really stand for?

http://www.news.com.au/dailytelegraph/story/0,22049,22090734-5001031,00.html

I can hardly wait for the spin and excuses. And, I'm certain this will turn into an anti Bush thread. Take the attention off the subject matter, shift it to George Bush, that's the standard liberal defense.

Good job in turning off your thinking cap and turning on the hypocrisy cap, Deane! You turn it off whenever you're looking to spread another smear against private citizens Al Gore or Bill Clinton, nearly eight years after they left office, I guess to divert attention your own party's pathetic record the last few years and its recent bankruptcy of leadership and ideas.

Let's look at this logically: do you REALLY believe Gore was told of the menu choices and he said, "Hmm. That's an engangered species. But GO AHEAD, I just hope no one finds out!"

More likely, it was completely an oversight and Gore was so busy he had no clue what was going to be on the menu at his daughter's wedding - and when he found out, he was upset about it. But you'd rather blame and smear, because you hate Al Gore.

And even if turns out there's more to this story...who cares? You'd rather just smear him. Like the smear about Gore polluting so much because he uses his private jet all the time. Turns out Gore flys commercial whenever possible - did you know that?

Meanwhile, not a peep when a politican on your side of the aisle does anything far worse than not being aware of the meal choice being served at his daughter's wedding. But, you hold Democrats to a far different standard than Republicans - hypocrite.

Andrew, what you're overlooking is that the likes of Al Gore and Robert F. Kennedy, JR., spend the bulk of their time running around telling the rest of us what we should do, but don't do it themselves. I'm surprised you chose to bring up the word "hypocrite" in this thread.

And just imagine, a big mean ole SOB like me picking on a poor defenseless "private citizen" like Al Gore.

It's not a question of that. The fish is served in fine restaurants all over the place. It's a high ticket item, which is probably the reason poaching has been occurring. That is the problem, not that is in short supply.

Actually, any one can decline to answer a question under oath. Mr clinton had several options, he could have claimed executive privlidge, as he should, since hes one of the 3 equal branches of govt. He could have claimed protection under the 5th amendment, or he could have just told the truth.

I think its wonderful, how the democrats protect womens rights, but claim it was perfectly acceptable for President clinton to lie in a sexual haassment suit.

Didn't bother to read the link, did you, Deane? If you had, you'd realize that some Chilean sea bass are now certified sustainably harvested - that's why Whole Foods started selling them again. It's the unsubstainable harvesting that threatens the species.

But obviously, in your hate for Al Gore, you don't care about the facts. Smear first and ask questions later. But if you opened your tiny little mind just a crack, you might have to realize that this stance by environmentalists - that it's OK to eat fish if they are harvested in environmentally-friendly ways - also shatters "PETA" stereotype, that all liberals want to ban eating meat. Truth is, liberals are a lot more reasonable than you like to give them credit for. Many of them own hunting rifles and hunt and fish, too.

"Brianl always want to see the worst in Bush, which is odd coming from a so-called Republican."

Well name me something where I should see the BEST in Bush. He comes across as this traditional small-government, lower-taxes faith-based conservative, but he has overseen the largest growth in federal government in history, the largest budget deficit in history because he is spending more despite having slashed taxes, he has focused on putting bigotry and discrimination in the Constitution despite using the rest of the Constitution as toilet paper to fit his personal agenda ...

Do I like some things that have happened under the Bush watch? Sure. Home ownership is at an all-time high. Despite my beef with the jobless recovery of the economy, the economy has STILL recovered, and I don't think people realize how bad 9/11 was for the US economy ... it could well have turned into 1929. I personally like Bush's thoughts of privatizing social security and giving people the option of investing their own money into their own retirement plans instead of SSI, though I don't agree with his plan as it was.

That said, why is it that Herb and Nwokie and Deane and DD and everyone else expects me to have Bush's back, just because he is a Republican and so am I? In case you haven't noticed, boys and girls, Bush's fellow GOPers in Congress are turning against him at an alarming rate. They are sick of the lies, deception, and innocent lives lost in Iraq. They are sick of the cowboy diplomacy and the bull-in-a-china-shop mentality. They are sick of being made to look like buffoons because their fearless leader guides us with his head up his ass. George W. Bush has been the worst President in the last 100 years, if not of all-time, and I am convinced that history will not shine on him favorably.

Herb's own Nixon had his strong points. I grew up a child of the Reagan years, and I look favorably on his Presidency. Both had issues and scandals, one survived and one didn't ... but BOTH had something tangible that was positive that they could put in their legacy. What does Dubya have?

Right, and neither did Clinton after 1993 (unless you count Oklahoma City in 1995, homegrown terrorists). Are you saying you think Clinton's record on terrorism was good because there were no attacks on the US homeland after 1993 on his watch?

Don't you think Bush did a bang-up job on terrorism in the first eight months of his presidency, since there was not a single terrorist attack on US soil from January 20, 2001 through September 10, 2001? Wouldn't it have been just as fair on September 10th to say, "Bush is doing an excellent job on terrorism. No attacks, see?"

I would not sweat it Chickenjuggler.

It is always the thought that counts.

Actually, I'm just surprised that the libs on this forum suddenly found comfort in the Bush Administration.

WTF?

DD:

You need to do more research before attacking with just one source.

But the fish enjoyed by the Gores were not endangered or illegally caught.

Rather, the restaurant later confirmed, they had come from one of the world's few well-managed, sustainable populations of toothfish, and caught and documented in compliance with Marine Stewardship Council regulations. The Gores' spokesman, Kalee Kreider, admitted that the fish has been on the menu, but said: "The Gores absolutely agree with this humane society and the rest of the environmental community about illegally caught Chilean sea bass.

"The problem is huge. This is unfortunate, we have been in touch with the society today. The really important thing is that people become more aware of this issue."

You're right Herb, Trixter sides with the Democrats most of the time.

Trixter makes a RINO (Republican In Name Only) look conservative.
