Should appear on WSAB and OAB sites tomorrow

Personally, I would love this... live overnights, affordable area to live, and not a mega corp.
However since I'm not exactly what they are looking for, best of luck to you...

There is one full-time on air position that is waiting to be uploaded. This is how it was submitted, not how it will appear online:
(from Sandie WSAB)

Live 95" (KITI-FM) has an immediate full time on-air opening for
overnights. Have fun working at a live, Adult Top 40 radio station, with
local ownership in beautiful Southwest Washington. Benefits and growth
opportunities come with the job. Rush your aircheck and resume to: Live
95, Attn: P.D., 1133 Kresky Avenue, Centralia WA, 98531. Application
deadline is August 1st, 2007. EEO.*

Derek Shannon is a prince of a guy to work for. The facilities are better than most small market operations, the equipment is always state of the art, and that station is kicking butt in the market. Anybody with an interest in working an all-niter should jump at that opening.

I remember Derek on KGA Spokane in the very late 60s...sounded terrific! See...you CAN have a passion for the biz even today!

Sounds like he still knows how "radio done right" works...Congrats!

Worked for Derek three times, including one ten year stretch. Ten years is not an uncommon tenure either. I know one guy who has been working for Derek for over 25 years!
If he hadn't sold his Longview stations to Entercom back in the late 90's, I'd probably still be working for him today.

Derek has a way of bringing out that kind of loyalty in his people. His committment to live radio is obvious. And one gets the sense that he puts as much money as possible into his stations.

Combine the 24/7 live local of Live 95, the live morning show on KITI(AM), and the local content on Clear Channel rivals KELA and KMNT, a town the size of Centralia/Chehalis is very lucky to have as much live and local radio as they have.

Larger towns should be so lucky.

I also did a ten year stretch working for Derek...started about two weeks before we put KITI on the air in October of 1977. I'd probably still be there, except for my desire to return to my hometown of Portland. If my memory isn't playing tricks on me, I think that Derek's son, Matt, who is program director, was born the day we put KITI-AM on the air.

For anyone considering the KITI job who doesn't know the area, its a great area to live in. Great people and Derek is a great boss.

Let me add my name to the list of people who did a 10+ year stretch working for Derek. (Bill and Ron, obviously my name is not really Scott Cunningham) I would still do occasional weekend shifts if the drive from Portland wasn't so long.

So true! KITI's sister station - KRXY/Olympia - a somewhat larger market - has just two full timers and one part timer on the air. The rest is either voice tracked or Otto's in control solo.

I guess the search has moved to All Access one of my friends was kind enough to email it to me with the comment "that this would be great for you."

yes, but probably not great for them :-D

I would bet they get at least 25 packages. 100 if they took email submissions..... As an actual live overnight slot, they should get plenty of interest....

OKAY< the pay is going to stink. It's Centralia, not Seattle. But the opportunity is great. I worked for these guys for nearly 5 years. They gave me my start in 1990 fresh outta high school. Looking back, it was some of the best times I had in radio. If you want to do "radio" with some freedom - then this could be a great job. Besides, nowhere in America besides here could you play Winger, into Kelly Clarkson, into Def Leppard, followed by Cher then Maroon 5.

Good Times..

given the choice, I would rather take less pay and work for good people than make better money and work in a less than desirable environment.

closing date was yesterday....

Betting the new overnighter will be a current part timer since they were also looking for an immediate Part timer as well... I thought it odd that the used the OAB, WSAB and AA to advertise.

on a side note, I have been invited to join a western wa. major market oldies station as a PTer, as soon as I am settled... small problem is being able to live close enough to afford to take it. guess I should have kept my old house and rented it out...........

Do you mean a western wa. major market "greatest hits of all time" station?

there is no longer officially an "oldies" station in a western wa. major market.

congrats at any rate!

Listening to this Gavin Dawson show on 1080 The Fan this morn. and he lamented this is "Engineer Dylan's" last day @ The Fan as he is taking a "DJ job" at a station in Centralia. Hmmm
